Did the Panthers just put KB and Funchess on notice?

Just wanted to get some thoughts on how the two new weapons we drafted for Cam will effect targets for our #1 & #2 WRs?  Add that with the the production of Cams favorite target, Olsen.  I have to imagine KB and the Funch have to be some what worried about their opportunities, right?

I think everyone is in agreement that KB and Funchess haven't lived up to their expectations.

They should be on notice after last season regardless. I'm just wondering if the rumor about KB's weight everyone keeps talking about on twitter is true.

I give KB a pass because it's hard for a guy that big to fully recover from an ACL in one year. We saw what he is capable of as a rookie and he can be that guy again this year. 

 

IMO, the jury is still out on Funchess too. This is really the season to judge him.

Funchess for sure. He's come nowhere close to living up to expectations. CJ2 might also have an uphill battle. Gotta think that Samuel has an inside track to playing the role that CJ2 was signed for.

Its all about context

KB not so much , he had a good season coming off an injury and is a  True #1 WR , otherwise McCaffrey & Curtis want be as successful. 

Funchess is on the rope but he is still a good dpeth player, I rather have him than sunshine.

I don't necessarily think that is the case because their roles are so different.

It definitely should light some fire in them, though, and if it doesn't, that's a major issue.

Funchess would really have to suck in training camp and preseason not to make the roster, but time is running out for him to prove himself worthy of a long-term stay in Carolina.

I think, if anything, they should be feeling relieved that they won't be double covered and will have more opportunities, as the offense evolves and defenses can no longer key on the big WR's any more. All these speedy guys and versatility will do is help the big boys out, not hurt them.

No, they drafted a receiver and a running back.  Basically those two will take Tolbert and Ginn's roster spot.  This may impact guys like Bersin, Byrd, Johnson, Cameron Artis Payne, and maybe Funchess.  To claim they put anyone on notice by doing it is not justified.  Might as well claim they put CJ on notice because of their DE pick.
