The way I see it, lets pick the least creative way Shula will use cmac. Have cmac be an extra blocker and release for dumpoffs. That can happen every play. Cam will finally have a safety valve, he has never had one. All of our plays have almost always been intermediate to deep. On 3rd, Cam had 3 options, chuck up to KB, thread the needle to olsen , or scramble for dear life.  

 

Of course I believe we will design parts of the offense for cmac but the top alone has me excited. I think CMAC is a great compliment to stew, a different type of runner. Defenses will have to change tactics depending on who is on the field, this will create confusion and equal big plays or at least keep moving the sticks. We need long drives to keep the other offenses from our division off the field.

 

Plus he is a great kick returner.

 

I loved fournette too, but I believe he was too similar to stew, so much so, that they would rarely be on the field at the same time. LF is too good to split carries, and we werent releasing stew. Keeping LF as a third down back or a 10 snap back would have been a huge waste. Everyone will say he would have been stew's replacement....yeah in 2-3 years. RB's have short life spans, waiting 2-3 years would have unfair to LF

7 months from now I can see people blaming Shula and Cam for CMC lack of production, when everyone else said he wasn't a good fit from the beginning.

Seriously...watch McCaffrey's cuts and then go watch highlights of Tomlinson's cuts. Very similar.

If Golic has actually watched MCM's highlights and thinks he's not a great open field runner, then he really is clueless. 

The jet sweep alone, with MCM in place of Ginn, becomes a whole different proposition for the D with his quick change of direction.
