Trading up in round 2

Definitely I think we end up with two of these guys

Defense:

CB- Chidobe Awuzie, Kevin King

DE- Jordan Willis, Carl Lawson, Tanoh, Derek Rivers

SS- Obi, Josh Jones

*wildcard pick* Malik McDowell

Offense:

RB- Samaje Perine

WR- Goodwin, Carlos Henderson, Zay Jones, Ardarius Stewart

O-line- Forrest Lamp, Cam Robinson, Dion Dawkins

*wildcard pick* Dalvin Cook

Can you imagine if we ended up with McCaff and Cook lol? I also think we missed out on the TE pick that would have been our next one: Engram or Njoku

No way I'd trade up.  I think they are targeting SS and will choose between Josh Jones and Melifonwu.  SS is an area where guys can get on the field right away and make a difference, whether is subbing in or special teams.

I wouldn't pick Cam Robinson.  Teams like to roll with 5 lineman that have gone through reps together and are comfortable with each other.  I doubt he beats out the 3 tackles in front of him, and I wouldn't spend the 40th pick on a Tackle I was grooming.  That's where our 3rd and 4th round picks come in.

One of the safeties at and Rivers today and I'm a happy camper.  But keep your eye on WR Hansen - could be a surprise pick at 64.

Obi and Lawson all day. Gives us youth at two biggest positions of need on defense and can help set us up for a long time to come there. Both could be first rounders, and Lawson is a million times better than Ealy.

The CBS mock is my dream 2nd round.  Bashem would give us a strong pass rusher who can develop under Peppers, CJ, and Addison.  But I believe his ceiling is really high, and he can be the dominant pass rushing DE we hoped Ealy would be.

Zay Jones is a guy I've wanted since I saw him at the Senior Bowl. The more I looked at his tapes and his skillset, the more I think he can be a very good starting WR.  IMO, if he is picked, he'll be starting opposite Benjamin, not Funchess.  I just think he has the route running, hands, and sped to be a perfect compliment to KB.

As for Robinson, I don't want him at all.  He's a penalty machine who cannot handle speed rushers.  On NFL Live, Bill Polian was talking about how he is a lunger and that very few lungers are successful in the NFL.  I just don't think he will be what many of you think he will be in the NFL.

It's the 2nd round and he's an imperfect prospect to say the least.  But he's a beast of a man and our OL has two OT's with major injury issues in recent years, two guards with unknown gargantuan upcoming contracts, and a center on the back 9 of his career.  Cam Robinson has a pedigree and mold of clay that can help us all breathe easier at night in the present and future.  With other needs and picking late next year, who knows when we'd have a chance like that again (if available).

I feel like Gettleman may want two higher quality players tonight rather than 3 lesser quality ones. We have seen him trade up with less ammunition in the seasons past.

Should the Panthers move up to mid round 2 instead of the very end, they could possible land 2 more guys that can help on day 1, as opposed to a project 3rd round player.

What say you? Good chance? If so, who do you like at pick 40 and say 55ish.

I'm honestly all for this, there is some really good talent left, the OG's are all still there, and some good options at safety, I'd say go for it!

I say keep the picks. Need to make up for the stupid fuging pick in the first. It's like we had four 2nd round picks this year.

MCCaffery didn't set the NCAA record for yards in a season by accident. He's a damn good player, and we needed to get some offensive firepower. He's the exact opposite of your posts, which are terrible.

I want Obi but I think Seattle is looking at him to be Chancellor's successor at 34. We'd have to make a move for 33.

I agree Seattle will look hard at Obi, but their OL sucks, will also look hard at Lamp and Robinson, Kevin King would fit their mold also and give them insurance if Sherman keeps being a pain

    • The problem with Tmac im almost certain he will go top 5 and I can't see either Jacksonville or New England passing him up.   I think in a perfect world we draft either Tmac or Hunter, but they interviewed Prime on Speak today and he said he will have a say in where Sanders and Hunter play. So I'm not even sure if Hunter is a option now lol.
    • Trading Deontae was 100% the right call, as he's not a #1 either and we weren't going to re-sign him, but we still got an awful return for him (thankfully the Mingo trade made up for it). And yes, we need that smaller shifty WR, but we also need a true outside #1 as neither XL or Coker are that. That's why I think T-Mac is a perfect fit for us in the early 1st round as that outside #1, Coker and XL could both play on the other outside and in the slot, and find a small shifty WR to work from the slot too, with Sanders, Brooks, and now Hubbard with the extension, plus our OL, is an offense that can succeed with a good game manager type of QB and not need a superstar.
    • Put the pipe down. You are what your record says you are. They need talent and a lot of it. Brown is set but he can use upgrades all around him. ARob is fine but a short timer so competition is needed as a hedge against him chasing money next year. They need a bunch of LBs. Jewell is stopgap and Shaq is losing a step. He's the smartest of the group but he can no longer hang with a TE. They are playing harder yes, but it's due to grit and pride more than skill. They are finally getting tired of getting their asses kicked. Unfortunately for them the beatings will continue until moral improves.
