Wazzup my fellow Caniacs! Wow, the Bobcats section has more replies than here? Seriously? We gotta do something about that. lol

I'll never have a second favorite team (in the same way you can't have a second favorite wife), but suffering through a rough season like this has forced me to look into other teams for satisfaction. So I agree with you that any hockey is good to watch. To be honest, college hockey is really fun to watch, too. I try not to ever miss the chance to see a game on ESPN.

More NHL discussion the better, imo. I love the Canes, but I watch as much of the rest of the league as I can because I love hockey and the Canes are terrible.

murq, that does sound like a bummer :(

I'd love to see the Jackets play... Rick Nash has evolved into something more than human this season

yep. gotta <3 nash. i managed to get 6 autos after the game but didn't get nashs. he was done signing before i got around to him i went to rj umberger first

hopefully going to the game on the 12th vs the ducks for rally towel night

It should also be "easy win night" as well. The Ducks are pretty bad.

But yeah, I got to watch the Blue Jackets a bit this year when Time Warner dished out a free Center Ice preview.

Nash has taken that step from being a "pretty good" player to being one of the best in the league. It's a step I wish Eric Staal could take soon :(

Ha! you'd think it would be an easy win night but you must not have seen the jackets play lately..especially mason. he's letting everything get past him this year

Yeah this year there's been quite a few good goalies either struggling or out, and quite a few newcomers to the starting scene that have been great. Mason is probably just sophomore slumping. With his play last year, it's hard to imagine him not being good anymore all of a sudden.

Back to Canes talk for a moment though as the Canes defeated the Pens last night in regulation to get their first road win. We went up 3-0 and then let in two quick softies to let the Pens get within 1. But, Legace held when it mattered and the game finished 3-2.

I just got the feeling watching that game that the Pens were going to tie it up and win the game. After the second goal, it seemed as if the ice was tilted in their favor. Canes held though, and get a great start to the road trip.

That was definitely a good win over a good team. I was still pretty upset when we let them back in the game. We have to find a way to keep a big lead. As much as we have blown leads this year, we were eventually going to hold onto one. The fact that we only had 21 shots on goal was also discouraging.

Now we have Brodeer coming off his record tying shutout performance. I definitely don't want to have the record set against us.

The good thing for the Canes is that we're going to be seeing a lot of backups. Brodeur is a horse, and will play a ton of a games. But, I wouldn't be surprised if we see a backup tonight.

And, on the Pittsburgh game, those two goals were pretty weak save efforts by Manny Legace, tbh. I know Tripp was pointing it out on TV, but he's right. Those were two saves you expect your goalie to make, and it really jolted the Pens squad.

After that we were reeling, and really unable to get the momentum back as we hung on by a thread until time expired. But hey, when you're the worst team in the NHL playing the reigning SC champs... you take it.

Yea it's too bad that we couldn't steal one at the Rock, but what can ya do?

Anyway, tonight NHLN if you have it... (And you live in the US) Penguins @ Canadiens. Always fun to watch these two teams play because they're lightning fast... and now they're playing each other.. in front of some of the most interesting fans in the NHL..

Should be a good watch. I bet Crosby gets a warm reception.

what a depressing loss tonight vs the preds! after masons great game last night he takes the night off and garon gets the start between the pipes and all he has to do is stop 1 puck in the shootout and we win and he lets the EASIEST shot go right under his legs and then we eventually lose in the shootout

oh well we're back home saturday and i'll be there hoping to come away with a w.

i feel like such a jerk posting jackets stuff in a canes thread lol

Wow, hats off to Tim Gleason! What a beast!

Yeah, goals off of turnovers kill Carolina yet again. You can't give Semin, Ovechkin and Co. extra chances and expect to win.

That being said, it is a nice surprise to see the Carolina River Rats do so well against the second best team in the East. Tlusty scores on his first shift as a Cane... wow. And again, Gleason... wow, what a game.
