What does Cam need to get back to previous level?

I try to ignore those who constantly berate Cam but would give other QBs a pass. Imagine if Cam had Luck's INT totals. Imagine if Cam had Luck's playoff successes. Cam has made the offense...period! Without Cam our offense would be at the very bottom in the NFL.

Now in saying that, Cam did play injured and looked slow and shell shocked last year. I am just trying to figure out what are the possible pieces we can put around him to make him successful again. Cam has some negatives in his style of play but his positives always outweighed all his negatives by far. Last season was the only season where his positives didn't show.

Well others in here have made some very valid basic points on ways that would basically instantly improve matters.

Playcalling obviously is first and foremost the first factor, an efficient offense is needed. We need to get our receivers open so we aren't putting Newton into constant situations of having to force passes into tight windows. Especially on third and long.

We also need to cut Ed Dickson, and get a real TE2. That should be a top priority offensively. Anyone here can tell you I've been quite critical of Shula, but supposedly he was wanting to get back to 2 TE sets, and I don't know why the hell we didn't address Dickson last year. But it has to happen now.

Beyond that, if we can get our run game back to form, we should be fine.

As long as we have a healthy Cam Newton we always have a shot. Some people just take things for granted. I had to sit through watching our guys play the Bucs at home while Cam was out in what was one of the most boring games of ours offensively that I've seen in a long time. That was our team before Newton. I don't want to see that anymore. So I'll go to bat 10 times out of 10 for guys like Newton and Luke that instantly transformed this team from a joke into a contender until they give me reason not to.

Cam had much to  deal from changing homelife with a new baby to being completely dissed by the NFL. The loss to Denver hurt. Refs pretty much handed Denver the game but Cam and team stormed bac only for the kicker to miss the field goal the rest is history..i dont know ..Superman has to regain believe in the NFL  Not himself because playing hurt shows his belief in himself but truting his teammates to  block i ink has ??at least cw ertain ones.

I think he lost weight will help get his speed back. He did look slowed last year. But he also had ankle problems and was beat up.

We need a traditional running game that can operate without Cam's own ability to run. Fournette and Stew would beat the piss out of a defense.

Receivers need to step up as does our OC.

Cam made some bad reads and held onto the ball a lot last year. But he knows how to ball.

Before the Shula slam train begins, Besides the obvious, like taking the ot position seriously and getting wr's or a run game that doesn't rely on cam. I personally think it boils down to Dorsey, he's the guy on the field who should be going over coverages and weaknesses with cam, along with miss reads, didn't see cam checkdown nearly as much as he has in past years, my only main criticism of cam is he got caught often holding the ball too long which knock us out if scoring position several times during the season.

So do you feel like the 2 TE set would be more beneficial to Cam and the offense than a slot WR and going 3 wide? I have been going back and forth. I like the idea of going back to a Shockey/Olsen offense and a power run game but I have been obsessed with a WR with game breaking speed. I feel like if we go to more 2 TE sets we will not value a 3rd WR as much and might go with what we have and pick a WR later in the draft to develop.

I will be fine with either scenario but I am leaning towards the 2 TE sets because it will also help our running game. I just had a major problem with LBs and S playing near the line of scrimmage the majority of the game, force them to cover in space.

@Shufdog sounds like the generic white male Panthers fan that still reminds you anytime Cam throws a bad pass that picking him was a mistake.

How do these people still exist? Like how loathsome of a person do you have to be on a very basic human level to be like that?
