That cutback though...

Stewart will be the starter game one, unless he is injured.   There is more to being a running back than just running.  He has to learn to pass block, know the plays, follow the lead blockers, and whatever else a running back does.  Now whether he is the starter in game 8 or 10 is anyone's guess.  But unless Fournette proves to be the greatest ever, he will be worked into the rotation.

This and anyone who thinks Fournette will replace Stewart is unrealistic.. The only way Fournette starts a game this year is if Stewart is hurt. Fournette is not close to being equal to Stewart and likely won't until his second year. Stewart know how to make his own yards with questionable blocking. Fournette is not at shifty or as agile as Stewart. Unless he goes North-South he isn't effective. How many times this past year did Stewart have to elude 2 tacklers before he got to the line. When healthy Stewart is a good back. Stewart had injuries in college and continued in the NFL. I am afraid Fournette will too. He reminds me of Earl Campbell. Hard running back who initiates contact. Ultimately injury always gets the backs that aren't elusive and dont avoid the big hits. They can't stay healthy.

McCaffrey hasn't attempted many passes in college, if any at all so we don't know that he can't be an NFL caliber QB. Speculation is that he'd go first overall as a QB alone.

Sure we know he can't be a great quarterback and only a rube would speculate that. Much different from the conversation about McCaffreys combine and proday measurables. He is quick, fast, run great routes, accelerates and is very elusive after the catch. Great hands and looks the most natural catching a pass. On and on.

    • The problem with Tmac im almost certain he will go top 5 and I can't see either Jacksonville or New England passing him up.   I think in a perfect world we draft either Tmac or Hunter, but they interviewed Prime on Speak today and he said he will have a say in where Sanders and Hunter play. So I'm not even sure if Hunter is a option now lol.
    • Trading Deontae was 100% the right call, as he's not a #1 either and we weren't going to re-sign him, but we still got an awful return for him (thankfully the Mingo trade made up for it). And yes, we need that smaller shifty WR, but we also need a true outside #1 as neither XL or Coker are that. That's why I think T-Mac is a perfect fit for us in the early 1st round as that outside #1, Coker and XL could both play on the other outside and in the slot, and find a small shifty WR to work from the slot too, with Sanders, Brooks, and now Hubbard with the extension, plus our OL, is an offense that can succeed with a good game manager type of QB and not need a superstar.
    • Put the pipe down. You are what your record says you are. They need talent and a lot of it. Brown is set but he can use upgrades all around him. ARob is fine but a short timer so competition is needed as a hedge against him chasing money next year. They need a bunch of LBs. Jewell is stopgap and Shaq is losing a step. He's the smartest of the group but he can no longer hang with a TE. They are playing harder yes, but it's due to grit and pride more than skill. They are finally getting tired of getting their asses kicked. Unfortunately for them the beatings will continue until moral improves.
