This team lacks leadership (duh, right?)

This lack of leadership talk and lack of passion on the part of Fox is down right funny. You can be passionate without screaming and spitting at your players.

It's hard to even log on here anymore because of this kind of bullshit.

Well, JOA, and anyone else who can't see that leadership has been lacking in these first three games is sticking their head in the sand. And, under normal circumstances I wouldn't advocate weeping and gnashing of teeth, but the product on the field doesn't resemble the John Fox teams of old. It just doesn't. And to infer that it's all because we are missing a couple of players is shortsighted and not looking at the big picture. Plenty of teams are missing starters on defense, but they still play sound football.

BTW, on an intellectual/theoretical level it is easy to say that one can be "passionate without screaming and spitting at your players", but in a very real and human sense passion and screaming go hand in hand (at the very least a raising of the voice, a slight contortion of your face, and a flailing or flapping of the arms). Everyone obviously can't be Tony Dungy or Bobby Knight, but sometimes coaches have to honestly and earnestly try different approaches if the status quo is not working.

I'm sick of hearing about 'mental' mistakes.

For the love of all that is holy, OTAs start in February, continue until training camp, training camp, 2 a day practices, preseason games, and practice every day.

If its mental mistakes, then Gamble isn't the only one with a low Wonderlik score.

If they haven't 'gotten' whatever is they are suppose to get, after all of that, their prospects of 'getting it' this year are slim.

How smart do you have to be to go to the spot your are told to go based on the offensive setup and the defense that's called.

This is not astrophysics.

Has nothing to do with being smart nor is it as simple as you suggest. First of all we don't play the same defense on every play and switch things up often. Secondly on each play diferent players have different assignments. Thirdly teams know what will be open in a cover 2 for example so being in your right place for example simply means that the expected holes will be there.

What it takes is for everyone to know where they need to be on every play based on the defensive call and the offensive set. They also need to know where everyone else will be and in cases of breakdowns cover for each other.

The only thing that ultimately helps is continued work in game situations and developing a cohesive unit over time. Until then we will have issues and look mediocre at best.

I'm suggesting that after all the practices, and all the OTAs and training camp and preseason games, the season itself, and practicing 5 times a week, plus the film sessions, please.

We are not talking about pop Warner to College here.

Pro football is their chosen profession and they are 'professionals'. There is just not that much new in football, there simply isn't.

If they aren't learning, and have not learned after all of that either a) the teacher is bad or B) the student isn't capable, or both.

Again too simplistic. Both teams are watching film and practicing to develop ways to beat the other. And yes there are a ton of new things in every scheme. Didn't you read Feeley's comments when he came here.

What you minimize is execution and that is where we are lacking. It isn't skill or talent but poor execution on things like tackling for example. Or receivers not running the correct routes or failing to fight for the ball. That isn't coaching but players doing what they have been taught. Sometimes it is simply that when things are going well, everything clicks. When things are going wrong everything falls apart. It happens to many teams. Otherwise explain why Tennessee is in the same boat we are.
