Repeat after me: Don't sleep on Chris Godwin! Consider Reception Perception

top dawg

Matt Harmon is the man.  He's the best WR analyst out there.
If the Panthers never scouted another receiver and just picked Harmon's favorite guy each year we'd be in much better shape.
Allen Robinson and Tyler Lockett were two of his out of consensus calls that have hit big. Godwin and Carlos Henderson are two of his favorites this year.  We have been linked to both, which is encouraging.
Sidenote:  He's also a Panthers fan.

Hmm mine to
These guys are 2 of my favorite for us (though I have Henderson falling to the late 3rd just because his poor 40 time combined with small school)
Called Lockett the other year. Everyone was pumping the Miami kids hype train on the recruiting forum and I said Lockett was going to better (his film is still the as close as your can get to Smitty as I've seen coming out)

Lawl.

So apparently we couldn't use a Dez Bryant type player or a solid slot replacment. Okay

Anyways, yes, I completely agree top dawg, he could be special. I put reception perception and my own analysis as part of a thread I did a while ago if interested:

I'd love him. A lot.

If I had to choose between Desean Jackson and Dez I'm picking Jackson 10/10 times. Its not about whose the best, its about whose the best fit that can compliment this offense and our other receivers.

Cam has one of the best deep balls in the NFL we need to take advantage of that by drafting a bonafide deep threat. Not Goodwin who for the most part is a possession receiver

One thing that I again love about him is how good he is with out routes.

The Panthers' bread and butter are out routes. That's Cam's favorite play. Godwin is exceptionally good at those, hence why Gettleman and staff brought him in for a visit.

This kid could be a special guy.

Bologna.

We we all know Cam's favorite play is throwing the football farther than what was thought to be humanly possible to a WR that actually catches it in stride for a TD....  who proceeds to hand the ball to a 4 yr old in the stand wearing a cam newton jersey

Big PSU fan here. Been hoping Godwin finds his way to Carolina. Wasn't sold on him from a speed perspective until the combine. But he was always the man at PSU that came up with a big play when needed. Sure, Saquan and Gesicki made plays, but Godwin always found a way to get open for McSorley. And Trace McSorley isn't a very accurate passer. Godwin also worked out of the read option on offense as a WR, so he likely would fit well with blocking schemes on the outside. Rarely called for holding penalties unlike Benjamin.

Because when you look at him, you think of a non-flashy, but fundamentally sound football player who looks to be consistent as a rock.

He is flashy though, just quiet.

I mentioned it to someone else.

He had better quickness #s than Curtis Samuel. Samuel is really going to look better on his highlight reel due to the role he played in Ohio State. He lined up in the backfield as much as at WR (only at slot). Godwin Did get behind Conley and Adoree Jackson, 2 pretty quick CBs. Hes not playing all in the open field like a return guy every play. Hes running his route, with his size and speed, and thats what you want the most as a WR vs a Tavon Austin

Penn State is a Real heavy run offense, so he is rarely targeted (plus side to the offense he has turned out a Good blocker) but when he is he makes the best of them (such as 2015 vs ohio state going 3 catches for 100+)

Want Badly at 40

Our WRs are in poor shape, need more than just a slot (which we can still get later with a Henderson or Switzer etc)

Fast and still big hands Catcher is the best compliment we've had for KB.  Remeber how people loved how Lafail could block well (about the only thing he could do) like Moose.  Here's a little secret.............Godwin is a damn good blocker to.
