8. Carolina Panthers

McShay's pick: Leonard Fournette, RB, LSU

Fournette is the best running back in a loaded class and the perfect fit for Carolina's power-rushing offense. The Panthers need to not rely on QB Cam Newton so much in the run game.

40. Carolina Panthers

McShay's pick: Curtis Samuel, WR, Ohio State

Wide receiver is a sneaky need for Carolina. Samuel makes plays from the slot and as a runner on jet sweeps/reverses.

64. Carolina Panthers (from Patriots)

McShay's pick: Obi Melifonwu, S, Connecticut

Melifonwu has an elite size/speed combination: 6-4, 224 pounds, 4.40 40, 44-inch vertical. The Panthers could use more of that playing against WRs like Mike Evans and Julio Jones in the NFC South.

98. Carolina Panthers*

McShay's pick: Daeshon Hall, DE, Texas A&M

Hall has the physical tools to work with (35½-inch arms and good first-step quickness); he just needs to learn how to set up blockers better.

Love It. But I think this would be a dream situation I dout the draft plays out this way but if it did I don't think many of us would complain. Discuss....

Not saying that Obi will last, but some of this movement is phantom movement, only within the minds of fans and media draftniks. Obi still has a certain amount of rawness at the end of the day.

It wouldn't be surprising if some of these guys go right where they were predicted before this process all began. After all, the tape rules, not media driven hype with most execs.

Don't get me wrong, some will slide, some will fall, but most will stay about the same.

Pretty much. We have no idea where Obi will land. Could be round 3 for all we know. Jeremy Cash was a projected round 2 and didn't get drafted. sheesh.

I like Kai Naucu from BYU , who has been under the rader so far but could be one of the steals of the draft in the mid round

6'- 2" 210 lbs with  4.4 fourty time

-Ball Hawk & excellent  run supporter

Obi will be picked at 40. I think the Panthers like him a lot. And i could even see a trade up from 40 to late 20s to get him.

I see it as 1) Take BPA at 8. 2) Get Obi, he's our only hope.

Obi learns from Mike Adams for a year, and then steps into the starting role.

3) address either RB or WR, whichever you didn't get at 8.

If you're a planner and know thy enemey one could get the gist of the draft board.

    • Canales was brought in to fix Bryce. That was how he sold himself. He failed.  the panthers need a new qb, someone to coach him, and someone to build a defensive staff.  Canales has failed at developing a new qb. His big draft project XL is trending towards bust. His entire nfl resume before the panthers was one season as offensive coordinator on a stacked Bucs team, and being on the offensive staff when a 31 year old Geno smith finally put it all together. And he didn’t even pick his offensive coordinator. Assuming evero is gone, who’s he got in that phone to call? What low lvl porn addict evangelical from the bucs is ready to be Peter principled? There is nothing in his coaching history or his current performance that indicates he’s the person to move this team forward. Every other team knew this last cycle (panthers were only interview) and nothing has happened to change that perception   all people like you have is “well you can’t do it again it’s too soon but <random interval of time> will be different.  just pull off the bandage. There’s no reason to let this guy draft “his guy” except people wanting an excuse not to fire him after 2025.
    • Both Reich and Canales were saddled with trying to build and establish a viable scoring offense around Bryce Young. The best the offense looked this season and last season was with Andy Dalton who is also terrible but still better than Bryce Young. Which should be all anyone needs to know but still somehow there are weirdos here salivating over a ceiling of maybe on a really good day the 25th best QB in the league. We've already canned one entire staff over our first overall pick. You can fire everyone again to satisfy your need for vengeance and quickly come to the realization that your next hire will absolutely unequivocally be a downgrade yes man or you can blow up this QB room and then assess. If no progress next season then you can make changes and justifiably so.
    • Surprised this is the only post with this take.  This is like the Rhule kiss of death lol.
