On line tax return programs

I did not do my tax return until the very end because I knew I was going to owe and just wanted to put off knowing how much. A little harmless denial.  I used the program I had been using for years...Tax Act.  I loved them in the past..very easy and straight forward. This year there were a lot of changes made and it was a nightmare.  If I was a 1st time user I would have never been able to find all the deductions I could have taken (and my taxes are not that complicated).

I will be looking for a new program next year.  Any suggestions?

Used TurboTax for like 10 years now.   It costs like 70-80 and there may be cheaper ones but it's always been pretty easy.

Prior to using an actual tax preparer, I was doing my own through Turbo Tax and prior to that Tax Slayer. Turbo Tax seems to be the most seamless and most user friendly.

Yeah I've only used TurboTax. It cost me about $94 this year. It sucks to pay for something that feels like should be free, but it is pretty easy.

Also, fug TurboTax for their shady charges. If you sign up to have their fee withheld from your return, they charge you $35, but they don't tell you about the charge until you're just about finished filing the return. Then you have to go all the way back and deselect the "withhold fee from return" option and pay with your CC. /rant

Same exact thing happened to me. I have been using them for about seven years now. Other than things like this, I would recommend TurboTax.

Had heard that Turbo Tax was bad about the add on fees.  Hoping there is something better out there.

Ive used Turbo Tax for years and always have to buy their business edition which is like $70 because I have an LLC

Hrblock online was like 110 for me this year. They do the same 35 dollar charge if you take it out of your return which is ridiculous. They at least tell you before you select that option though.  Seems they have gone up every year and an actual tax preparer would be cheaper buy I waited to the last minute as well.
