Two reasons we are losing games!

We are losing games for two main reasons. We are not running the ball enough and special teams has been awful. We ran the ball an average of 29 times last year, and we are running it an average of 21 times this year. Both our running backs are averaging right at 4.5 yards a carry so why are we not running the ball? There is still time to get this season turned around but the coaches have to make changes in these two areas.

Why run the ball when you can only get 4.5 per run?

because 4 ypc is the standard. if your rush attack averages 4 ypc, chances are you're slowly and methodically moving the chains. it chews up the clock, keeps the opposing offense off the field, and wears out the opposing defense.

as good as the run game was statistically last season, it accomplished none of the above. it was too explosive. they scored too fast and time of possession was piss poor.
