Delhommey's Garbage Panthers of the "First Quarter"

This thread is dedicated to all those who have been garbage in the first 3 weeks:

Julius Peppershttp://www.carolinahuddle.com/forum/carolina-panthers/21273-fiz-makes-a-thread-about-julius-peppers.html

Charles Godfrey – I loved his size/speed combo coming out of college and thought he’d be an immediate upgrade. Now we know he’s more awkward than a boner in sweatpants. Between being pushed back by some magical force field surrounding Felix Jones and his 5 second too late tackle of Jason Whitten, he show America on Monday why he has no friends in our fanbase.

Jason Baker/ST Coverage – I freely admit to not liking Baker since last year. He holds on to the ball too long, constantly aims for the dead middle of the field and regularly outkicks his coverage with laserbeam line drives. He has no real redeeming value. Obviously our coverage is crap too as kickoffs are almost as bad as punts. Our guys are constantly out of position, can’t tackle and overrun the play in a ways that would make Stanley McClover smile.

Danny Crossman – You’re such garbage you deserve your own entry.

Dewayne Jarrett – Absolutely gifted the 3rd WR slot and you did nothing with it. Can’t shield the defender. Can’t use your size to force separation. Bust-o-rino.

Nick Hayden – I realize that you were forced into this position, but when you play DT it looks as if you took the South Park song “What Would Brian Boitano Do?” a little too much to heart.

Jeff Davidson/Jake Delhomme – I put the first interception more on Davidson and the second almost completely on Smith, but interceptions/Week 1 On Field Abortions aren’t the reason I’m putting these guys here. Really I’m just curious WHY THE F**K AFTER 4 YEARS OF TEAMS CONSTANTLY ROLLING COVERAGE TO SMITH TO THE POINT THAT THE STADIUM BEGINS TO LEAN A BIT THAT WAY HAVE NEITHER OF YOU f**kTARDS FIGURED OUT HOW TO RUN PLAYS AND THROW TO THE BACKS AND TIGHT ENDS FREED UP IN THE MIDDLE OF THE FIELD?!!!1!!! EVER HEARD OF A f**kING POST ROUTE?!!1!! MIGHT WORK A LITTLE BETTER THAN SENDING YOUR BIG BODIED WR WHO'S SLOWER THAN THE DMV ON A FLY ROUTE!!1!!!!

John Fox – I think you suffer from the same disease Chucky did: too much success too soon. You became convinced that your way is clearly the right way as it took a 1-15 team to the Super Bowl in 2 years. While it is certainly impressive, there’s no denying we had a horseshoe stuck up our rearends that year as well. I think you’ve forgotten that.

I’m not saying that “Foxball” is the wrong way to go. Not at all. It’s actually more the way I prefer my team to be. What’s wrong is “Foxball” should be constantly evolving, constantly changing and adapting to the new realities each new year and player brings. It hasn’t been.

One of the big reasons? No new blood has been brought in. Your coordinators seem to have been chosen as much for their loyalty to the plan and their willingness to go along with the program than anything else.

Buddy Ryan was/is an asshole. He and Ditka were constantly at one another’s throats. His players tripped over one another’s dicks to get to the microphone after the game to throw Jim McMahon under the bus after a game. Buddy Ryan also helped put together one of the greatest defenses ever known to man by adopting his scheme to the players he had and telling Ditka to “f**k off” if he had a problem with it.

Hire good people. Leave em alone. Simple concept, hard to do.

I terms of pure garbage in a vaccum....Godfrey should be #1 on any list. Peppers has expectations, money, effects of his stay vs. what limitations it puts on the team, etc. all factoring into it. Make no mistake about it, Godfrey has earned the crown and top position.

Ditka's a huge asshole too, but point taken. Don't have to be friends, but do have to work together for a common goal. Let's not forget that was easier when talent alone is why teams won (pre-salary cap).

Agree wholeheartedly with the point about changing and adapting which is VITAL in the salary cap era. Maybe Fox would have been better off in the pre-salary cap era where you could just keep talented teams together and win a lot (like the 70s Steelers). Also agree that the philosophy of foxball is my preference also.

If I had to give the king of suck for a unit though it has to be ST. Just execrable on both sides, no redeeming qualities whatsoever except Kasay's FG ability which has zero to do with Crossman. Maybe we should pray for Jauron to get fired and the new Buff HC to be a half-brain who won't want to retain Bobby April and DO WHATEVER YOU HAVE TO DO TO HIRE THIS GUY. SERIOUSLY.
