I knew it was bad, but... well, see for yourself...

So what you're telling me is if we excuse one of the Panthers' worst special teams plays of the season, the stats would look marginally better?

It's a novel concept, but you've kind of got to include that as an example of why the Panthers are so bad on special teams. We should be pointing to plays like that and saying, "This is the best example of why special teams is bad," not saying "Oh, well aside from that ...".

If you wanna get technical, the play shouldn't have even counted. I'm still fuming that the refs missed the BLATANT block in the back on that return. Such bullshit.

Totally playing devil's (Corssman's) advocate, but how much is our avg. being slayed by the DeSean Jackson Punt Return TD that should have never happened due to the block in the back?

Exiting devil's advocate mode, Crossman has been the issue for a while. We're just a few years removed from Baker having one of the best net punting avgs in the NFC. He obviously isn't the problem. The blocked punts, sure you could blame them on Nick Goings, but he's gone and we still have punts blocked and shizzy averages. The quality of our special teams has dipped every year. That's not a player problem, that's a Crossman problem.
