Is Peppers going to get a MONSTER contract in 2010?

Hurney and Fox are dumbasses signing Pep to a potential $19M 1 year contract! Are we getting the 19 million worth of play out of him? I want to see Peppers gone next year!

This

Peppers agent really screwed him, should have taken the long term deal we offered. I doubt he gets anything close to that now.

I don't think Pep cares. He'll have 17 million in the bank. Would you care if you did? I bet he retires.

That makes no sense. He only makes 19 mill if he makes the Pro Bowl, which you would think means he had a very good season. I agree with what you are trying to say but not with how you said it. In either case 17 million is far to much for a inconsistent DE who has serious motivation issues.

I agree with the Pep thing, he's brought nothing to the team this year. It's clear by his play that he's here because he was forced to be here and is getting paid well for his presence. Dallas used him like he was a rook and blocked him with a TE. I don't want to franchise him, but I would like to try to trade him for a couple of good picks. I'd say franchise him to trade him, I'm sure we can get something for him, which is better than nothing. If we can't before FA is over, then we let him go. I think the DE's we have will work, start Brayton and Johnson and rotate Brown and Taylor.

Hence the word "potential"

    • Some Huddlers call him average at best, but his trajectory has been going up.  Recognize the job this OL coaching crew did this year--they were not kissing footballs--they were improving young players--Zavala is probably a starting RG on another roster; Mays outplayed Corbett; and Ekwonu is in the top half of the league as a LT.
    • Possibly. With the rumors swirling about Moton it's easy to convince yourself that it's possible that OT is a LOT higher on our list of needs than would appear at a glance. The other distinct possibility is that we feel like Icky isn't putting in the work and we want to light a fire under his ass. If it's the latter, I would expect us to ultimately pick up his option but likely not be super aggressive to sign him to a huge extension. In which case, again OT would be a lot higher on our list than most would assume. The smoke is saying OT is a lot higher on our list than most of us think IMO.
    • Funny enough, that’s how they used Mykel some of the time at UGA (and how him numbers weren’t high) he slid inside - they had Walker and would use guys like Wilson II, Wilson, or Harris across from Walker at the edge on passing downs.
