Vernon Butler - Luxury pick gone wrong?

With the KK signing this week, I want to get everyone's thought on whether this solidifies our 2016 1st round draft pick as a mistake or whether he can be beneficial in other areas. When we originally picked him, I questioned the pick originally but came around to it when I realized that KK would more than likely walk after playing out his contract after the 2016 season. Now that that theory is out the window, I'm left to wonder if the pick was a huge waste of our first round selection last year when looking at the holes in other areas of our roster. He seems to be too big to play DE and not big enough to take over for Star. Is his ceiling KK's breather for the next 5 years? If so, there is no choice but to call this pick a bust, regardless of how good he becomes. There is no way his production in that role can fit his draft position. Thoughts?

You generally don't want to draft role players In the first, with that being said no way you can call him a bust

Dave probably will draft a DT at #8 to make sure Butler knows he has to compete hard for his backup job and not be content now that KK has a deal.

The way we rotate our DT's you can argue there's actually 4 starters in total.. And no, not just to let KK get a breather.

We've got Butler for 4 more years on his rookie contract, assuming we pick up the 5th year option. He'll take over for Star when we let him walk after this season. Sounds like a smart pick to me.
