Excellent post and very good point. Between that and @KB_fan's mock draft research shows I'm probably wrong about him still being there.

You had good points too though...it will be interesting to see how it shakes out. If Adams makes it past the Bears he could very well end up in our laps.

so i'm not too big on college and I honestly never watch any games unless it's the national championship, but I just saw highlights of Jamal Adams for the first time and oh my fuc.king god the dude is an absolute monster.

I change everything I've said about Fournette, Solomon, and OJ. Please trade up to 3 and snatch this guy. He's a once in a lifetime type player!

You see his whole games yet? He's about as hot and cold as Tre Boston.

In the 36 published mock drafts by various analysts (NFL, CBS, Fox, SI, Rotoworld etc etc etc)  I looked at from the past 3 weeks, Adams was off the board before #8 81% of the time.  Chicago,  Tenn, Jets...

Pick #1 = 0 mocks

Pick #2  = 2 mocks

Pick #3 = 5 mocks

Pick #4  = 1 mock

Pick #5 = 8 mocks

Pick #6 = 8 mocks

Pick #7 = 5 mocks

You've got to think that even if safety is not a team's primary need, the chance of a team picking him if he falls out of the top 5 is very high.  Tons of talent

Hooker was also a very popular pick.  Most often picked positions in 1 - 8 in these 36 mocks were DE, S, CB, RB.

Love your research. If you get time and feel like doing it I'd be interested in a consensus big board.

Gil Brandt,Daniel Jerimiah,Bucky Brooks, Mel Kilper/Todd Mcshay, Bob McGinn, CBS' big board would probably be enough to get a good sense of a consensus among most reliable experts. Especially if you could incorporate Mayocks Top 5's by position into it.

Sure, I might have some time to work on that tomorrow... My schedule this week has turned out to be lighter than any week since January.  It's a nice respite.

I hope the trend holds, having the option of Adams at 8 would be great.  You still could be right, interesting thoughts on why he might be there from a perspective I hadn't seen before.  If he gets past Chicago I think there's a good shot he's around at 8.

Based on Dave Gettleman's track record, the Panthers first round pick will be someone they have visited with.

So if Adams is there at 8, you wouldn't take him?

Yep. Not that confident when I see how he whiffs a ton of tackles when he's supposed to be a strong safety. I started watching actual draft breakdown film (effectively tape on Adams) on him to make sure Ethan Young didn't pull anything out of thin air, and he's right.

Doubt he'd beat out Mike Adams as a starter. That's saying a lot, considering Adams also misses some of his hits.

You'd be disappointed with Thomas or Adams? Hell, behind Fournette, those would be the next two names I'd want. I'd be ecstatic with Fournette. I'd be very happy with Thomas or Adams. I'd be okay with Howard, Barnette, or McCaffrey.

this is why i keep saying we have the NFL by the balls with this pick. we are gonna pick a stud no matter who is left. even if an NFC South team finds a way to leapfrog us to pick a player they think we want, we are still gonna end up laughing in their face when we pick another potential pro-bowl out of the stock thats gonna be there at 8.

its also why i flip poo when people suggest trading down. i would honestly rather us trade up than down from #8
