Draftnik Ethan Young Has "0 [Corners] Graded As First Rounders"

It's been widely said that this is a deep CB draft. The mere potential and physical specs of many prospects are insane for this year, and showcase the speed and talent that is on display for their coveted group. Many would argue Lattimore as a sure fire top tier corner right off the bat and that there are plenty of corners with first round consideration, but one draftnik appears to be going against the trend.

He claims there's no 1st round worthy corner this draft.

Now, he doesn't deny this is a deep draft. He's just saying you won't find top-tier 1st rounders in here.

Now, it's also worth noting his experience. He already claimed James Bradberry to be one of the best corner prospects from last year's draft, months before draft day came. He's also made some outlandish comments such as Jamal Adams not being a first rounder either. He has won official scouting awards recently, and is a widely respected talent evaluator who seems to specialize in the backfield.

Whatever you want to think of him, he does hit a lot when it comes to his off-ball comments. And this is certainly one of them. Take a look:

Very interesting. A corner-back by the name of Kevin King is his consensus top corner from this draft, according to his big board, and above Lattimore. A very interesting case to be made, but he does seem to reap accurate results when it comes to evaluating corners.

He defends his notion more in these transcripts:

Quote

I see the flaws everyone else does and get why some don't buy it, but I still take him over any other CB

I think the thing that scares people is King lacks the physicality you expect to see with his size, as a tackler and with jams at the line.

I understand getting tunnel vision with that. May not be all that fixable either.

And of course the foot technique is really raw. Soft coming back to the ball in bail too. But, have to remember he has minimal reps at CB.

I think a lot of those things can be fixed with more reps (although he will never be a run support ace). So what am I am high about on tape?

Sure he's long and rangy, but Kevin King has an insane vertical skillset. Dominant up in the air.

King is great at attacking the ball at it's highest point. Insane ball skills (ASU). Good luck throwing a fade over him on the goal line.

Not many guys have the ability to take away a guy like Dez Bryant on a 50/50 fade in the end zone. Kevin King does.

As long and rangy as you will find. Fantastic length and ball skills. Dominant up in the air. Rare athletic ability. Lacks the physicality you expect with his size, as both a tackler and with his jams at the line. Soft coming back to the ball in bail. Top heavy out of stems. Can be caught leaning. Really raw foot technique, but should develop quickly due to minimal reps at CB.

So, not much of a physical corner - something that may explain why we haven't scouted him much - but insanely good ball skills and athleticism.

An interestingly bold statement by a draftnik who's wowed the world - and Panther Nation - before.

I respect this guys opinion when it comes to draft stuff and im not really high on any of the top corners this year either. However, Jamal Adams is a 1st rounder in any draft.

The more I think about it, the more I believe last year's class had more top end talent as far as corners. Sure, this class is deep as well, but last year featured some physical specimens up front along with sleepers.

Gettleman knew what he was doing. I doubt Lattimore will be in play for us at 8.

I follow him on twitter. Young knows his poo and called Bradberry being a beast in the NFL. He isn't high on Jamal Adams either, so take that for what it's worth. He knows more than I do so il go with him haha

I really want and hope Adams goes top 5 with Garrett, Allen, Thomas, and a QB.

Who would like to draft? Just curious

Barnett or Fournette are dead red on equal for me, either one.  Haven't changed my tune one iota since we were spanked in Seattle and officially done in 2016.  Too much quality tape on both at positions of need to ignore.

The same guy who LOVED Ryan Delaire now has no CBs graded as a 1st rounder despite this being heralded as one of the deepest CB draft classes?

Sorry - his analytics may support those who test well, and he might even hit on some, but I'll take what he says with a grain of salt.

His strong-suit is the secondary from what I'm getting from him. I take his evaluations of DEs with a grain of salt as well, as I think he's questionable with evaluating them.

It's deep as far as corners, but he has a point it doesn't have much top-tier talent. This class is underwhelming at the top, but a ton of 2nd round-3rd round guys who are capable of development.
