Opinion: with Short signed, WR time in this draft

People are underestimating Ross, good head on his shoulders and has been seen working out with wr Desean Jackson. He's a better version of Ginn with a higher ceiling. Yes the injury history is scary but again if guys like Adams, Thomas, fournette, hooker, lattimore are off the board at 8, without trading back I'd take Ross. And if bpa presents itself in the 2nd I'd take Goodwin or Henderson. Definitely take a look at kupp in the 3rd or 4th if we decide to use our 2 2nds for other positions.

Also tired of hearing the "we don't value *insert position*", that's the problem we've seen how this has played out several times and some of you want to do the same exact thing over again and expect a different result, didn't value cb, 29th in pass defense, didn't value wr, quite possibly fielded the worst wr core know to Jesus in 2014, haven't valued the ot since gross has left(just did this offseason). Our qb is one of the most hit qbs in the last couple of seasons. Bottom line the notion that we can just sit pat with what's on the roster has proven time after time it's not enough

Since we're talking about WR's I couldn't help but think of a couple of our practice squad members. Any news on how Keyarris Garret and Damiere Byrd have progressed since the start of last season?

It sure would be nice, but unlikely, to see one of those guys step up and claim the #2 or #3 WR spot on the depth chart. Then we could use some of those this year's draft picks to address other needs (OT, TE to complement Olsen, DB, etc)

Let me be debbie downer.. We don't need to draft a WR early for the job we want him to do..

What we need is for our already drafted wr's and others on the roster to develop.. This isn't the year to give up on that yet.. We have 4 wr on the roster who haven't played in the league for more than 2 seasons..

I still remember Byrd literally flashing all of last preseason. He's having offseason surgery so I guess you could say his future is up in the air at the moment.

He does have comp in Sheppard and Johnson... Byrd is still the fastest but I have a good feeling about Sheppard outside of ST.

Keyarris is a wild card. Only thing holding him back is lack of seperation. Mastery of route running could offset this a little but at the moment he is just more of what we already have.

We need a playmaker or prepare for a season full of delayed blitzes that hit home and the permanent stacked box. That being said, this offense would GREATLY benefit from Ross/ Westbrook/ Curtis Samuel/ KD Cannon/ Jones/ Henderson/ Godwin..even MaCaffrey..

A strong case could also be made for the following.....  Fred Ross/A. Scott(who I'd also love btw)/ /A. Stewart /Marks/Rodney Adams/ Hansen/ Kupp etc..etc..

Bottom line.. this draft is too deep at WR for us to leave empty handed.
