If we trade up for Fournette I will lose a TON of faith in Gettleman and I am one of his staunchest supporters.

why? he's worth it. I mean if Gman trades both our #2's for him sure, that would be retarded.

The Falcons got one helluva WR in Julio Jones but they sucked for years after that trade because they gutted their future to land Jones. It took a long time to recover from that and put a complete roster together.

Their defense still hasn't recovered from that trade.

Last year, Atlanta's defense was 25th in total defense, 25th in rush defense, 28th in pass defense, and 27th in ppg.

And here, 6 seasons after the Jones trade, they have one stud on that defense (Trufant) and a few extremely young players with really good potential (Beasley, Jarrett, Jones, Neal), but their talent elsewhere on that defense is a wasteland.

Julio Jones had absolutely nothing whatsoever to do with the Falcons blowing a 25 point lead.

I sure bet Atlanta's near bottom-of-the-league defense could have used a good supply of better players.

Golly... I wonder how NFL teams could possibly go about doing such a thing?

Gettleman has drafted 5 players 3 times and 6 once.and trading up is nothing new for him nor would it be as of any shock to the orginization.

Name all the times he's traded up in the FIRST round.

I'll wait here.

(P.S. Trading up in the 1st round costs lots of premium picks (what DG refers to as draft "gold") because (1) the talent, in general, is more likely to succeed and (2) 1st round picks have a 5th year option on their initial rookie contracts and 2nd-7th rounders do not.)

i also agree with you about the Eagles setting the standard for this trade.that 1st next year will be in the 30s or at least thats what Dave believes

Hint:  If Dave "believes" that then the Eagles would probably "believe" that too.  Guess what?  If they think the 1st rounder they're likely to get the next year is a 30?  THEY'RE GOING TO ASK FOR MORE.

A- no it wasn't I posted the trade, it involved (2 first rounders, 1 second rounder, 1 third rounder, 1 fourth rounder)
B- NO. fug no. Have you guys not learned your lesson of trading away first rounders after the E. Brown and Jeff Otah debacles? You don't trade away future first rounders. You just don't.
The Eagles is a tad defensible because they got a franchise QB.
But for a RB????
That's insane.

U might want to google the trade it shows it only took that 8 pick first rd eagles had and the first for this year that's it. Ur only really giving up one first rd pick and that it!!!!

If we make a trade like the Falcons made for Julio for Fournette, then Dave is putting his career on Fournette's back. We'll need an entirely new DE corps very soon. I don't see Dave blowing that much draft capital on a RB when he loves his pass rushers and we have the AARP crew at DE right now.

Them re-signing KK today means either we are letting Star walk and using butler. Or we could be fixing to move Butler around and use him at DT and DE. I don't see us going after DT now at all and DE maybe last pick of 2nd or 3rd Rd.
