"Preseason doesn't matter"

Sam Mills Fan

Recommended Posts

The winless preseason teams this year:

Panthers

Chiefs

Cardinals

The records of those teams in the regular season so far:

Panthers 0-3

Chiefs 0-3

Cardinals 1-2

Combined record of 1-8

Perhaps preseason futility is more of a harbinger of things to come in the regular season than we thought, especially when individual players aren't performing well in the preseason.

Wasn't just the wins. You can make a argument that preseason is different and "wins don't matter". If your team is playing lots of scrubs and your opponents are playing starters for longer periods. This past preseason it was easy to see that the Panthers starters were playing badly. We couldn't move the ball on offense, and couldn't stop anyone on defense and tackled poorly. Sound familiar?

Pre-season "doesnt matter" necessarily when it comes to wins and losses. It does at least matter when it comes to certain things. If the starters are playing well, doing good things etc and the they dont win every game I dont think thats a big deal - BUT when the starters and team did so poorly it definatley was not a good thing and was a sign of things to come.

It doesn't count. But it matters.

Totally agree sammillsfan. The season was ruined with offseason moves, made worse by the coaching failures in the preseason, and the product is what we've seen the first three games.

We'll have a new GM and HC next year (assuming Jerry doesn't want to lose what remains of his fan base). The right decisions there can yield a quick turnaround (see Atlanta, NYJ).
