and using 2016 as proof he sucks is dumb to me too. (in a vacuum). By just looking at 2016, we should have fired 70% of our players and staff

I think Mccaffrey would be a solid choice. But with picking him you still have to draft a contingency plan for Jonathan Stewart and then decide whether you want to take a pure WR later or forgo it. 

The way I see it our defense as it stands will be an excellent first half defense. They will get a lot of 3 and outs early. The question to me is, Does Mccaffrey give you that one or two additional plays to seal the game in the second half when the defense starts giving up chunks because CJ and Peppers are tired. 

Fournette on the other hand will beat the hell out of the opposing defense with Stew and really help our ball control. But he has to fall to us. We can't give up anything to get him in my opinion. Even then you have to have faith that Rivera won't be an idiot and actually play him and give him enough snaps.

If Fournette goes before us I'd love us to trade a few spots back. Then take Howard or Mccaffrey from there.

Players aren't as good in the NFL as they were in college. Most great NFL players weren't great college players, because you don't want to be at your best in college - Jordan Matthews is the SEC all-time leading receiver or something, why wasn't Julio Jones, or AJ Green, they are way better pro's?

We don't know what the Panthers big board looks like ... it very well could have Leonard Fournette at #1

AND if that is the case, you're stupid if you think we aren't trading up to get him as close as we already are with #8

If he's the #1 player on our board and he's not making it to pick 8, why wouldn't we trade up I mean come on, we aren't going to be able to deal such an early pick for an even earlier pick anytime soon, any future pick we give up will be a late round pick in Gettleman's mind

Todd Gurley was the #1 pick on the Panthers big board a couple years ago, recovering from a torn ACL - but we would have had to trade up far, and give up much to land him.

Fournette has no torn ACL and was as violent a runner in the SEC as Gurley so you do the math

To be fair, we've learned that's not the best way to judge offenses.  We were 24th in passing yardarge, and 2nd in rushing.  Shula hasn't made Cam a 4,000 yard passer ever.  It's absolutely disheartening.

Again that's one season.. Shula has been a coach for 20 plus years and his success rate at that is bad to worst.. Would you put your faith and money in a stock that had 1 boom season in 20+ years of exsistence?
