"McCaffery at 8 would be a reach and waste of a pick."

Do you remember the Falcons offense before they drafted Jake Matthews and signed Alex Mack? They have always had weapons and a QB for many years now. They didn't do anything with all that talent until they fixed the 0-line.

Outside of Bellicheat I don't know anyone that can scheme around the 0-line we dealt with last year. You want TE's to help the tackle more? What Tight ends do we have that are such great blockers?

Same can be said about our offense in 2014, not to mention we had entirely new receiving core that was very underwhelming.

Nobody cries about Shula when he has good 0-line play.

That's the point.. If you're a good OC after 20 years you should be able to still coach and not be inept when everything isn't perfect..

Was everything perfect in 2015? Tedd Ginn,Corey Brown and Jericho Cotchery were our top receivers.

You also had a healthy oline alm year and a Tackle combo that played over their expectation, a All world performace by your QB game after game converting 3rd down after 3rd down, a defense getting more TO and creating more short fields than any other in the league and last every lucky bounce going your way.. example (Dickson catching a fumble in full stride for a TD against Tampa).. Yeah let's not forget context when trying to make a point..

What happen the other 20 something years as a HC or OC where he sucked??

I just went and did some quick math off listed stats. Trying to find at least one of articles I read in the past! And I completely agree about  screens and quick dumps being McCaffery's food, however, weigh the negatives and the positives!

McCaffery also carried the ball 15-20 times where Davis or Williams did not. We can also question Davis' level of competition. Not trying to discredit Davis but choosing to look at the whole picture

I watched 4 full games and his highlight tapes. McCaffrey rarely runs routes. Just because he's good on screen passes and quick dumpoff's does not make him the best WR in the class or even a top 20.

Corey Davis dominated his level of competition and set FBS records. Over 5200 yards and 52 TD's. Is anyone else feasting like that, regardless of their level of competition?

Biggest knock on Davis is he's good for a drop every game it seems but he is also targeted a ton each game as well so its all relative.

That's all fine and dandy that he's versatile (can run the ball 15-20 times a game) and catch a few short passes but your statement that he was the receiver in the class holds 0 weight. Best receiving back? Thats something I could buy but he's not a deep threat by any means.

Other than Shula being inept i don't see any other reason not to take Cmac.. We are always going to be a 2 back offense any way and we can get Stew's replacement next year..

That's if Fournette or we don't go defense.. let's just say i won't be sick if Cmac is the pick..

I understand your hatred towards Shula. I just don't share it. We cant see eye to eye here and thats fine. If I continued to try and counter you, I can tell you wouldn't let this go and we'd be quoting each other all day. So heres where I agree to disagree and move on.

Watch this video... Great player but he needs elite blocking and space, he doesn't have the power like Fournette to truck over anyone. A team like NE could make him a weapon, Shula would ruin this kids career

I don't hate Shula, otherwise I agree completely.  If you enjoy watching full game cut up's go here. http://draftbreakdown.com/players/christian-mccaffrey/

He has 7 or more dedicated blockers on the majority of his biggest runs. Clearly play design by their OC. Suck everyone into the box with only 1 wr out wide. If everyone hits their blocks before McCaffrey is touched or tackled, he sprints to the end zone and theirs nobody in the backfield to stop him.

I just want to know who started this crazy talk of him being a great slot receiver? He rarely runs routes out of the slot. He mainly just hangs out around the los either for a screen pass or safety valve for the QB.

How do we know if he was never asked to run deep routes?

Who does have power to truck people like Fournette? That guy might be the most violent runner I've ever seen at the college level. Dude doesn't just run guys over, he obliterates them and makes them question why they're even playing this sport.

Okay so you can admit you might be  wrong cool.. That's all you had to say instead of this paragraph of BS.. It's okay not to be able to counter facts.. Shula has been  coaching for 20 plus years and has only had top 15 success once.. It's hard to defend that...

As the 8th overall pick based on his value in our system as a HB only, no... but his versatility makes him a potential top 10 prospect. Whether or not he's worth the 8th pick depends on whether or not we plan to take full advantage of his versatility, it's as simple as that.
