Oh yeah, Bill is in a whole different universe compared to D Newton. For one he actually has at least a few synapses firing in his brain. In that regard even the worst huddlers here have a significant leg up on David.

As far as sports media right now, it's all about recognition these days regardless if it's good or bad or if you're right or wrong in your information. We have beat reporters like Joe Person that purposely try to ask questions or run articles that will create friction for no other reason than to get a perceived big story started.

Journalism was already going downhill, but twitter among other things has basically destroyed it.

I tend to agree with you about the Person stuff....but let's switch the paradigm for a second.

Maybe our media is weak because no one ever asks our FO and coaches the tough questions or challenges them. Maybe they can't challenge them because their access will be cut off. And then when someone like Joe does ask tough questions, all of us homer fans jump all over him for being a dick. I mean, isn't Joe just asking questions that would normally get asked in a media market that isn't fragile like Charlotte? (the answer is yes, btw) Hell....we have an owner (and I'm a JR fan) who hasn't addressed the fan base or media directly in how many years? Is that normal? Doesn't seem like it. 

But back to your point about current sports media....and yes I'm aware I'm always quick to defend Bill...it's because 1) we're friends, 2) I would see how hard he would bust his ass to put out content, 3) I think he's the best we have (had) , and 4) people want to constantly bitch about media driving traffic to their sites when it's the only way they get paid - that model is broken. We constantly bitch about wanting great content but we won't pay for it - it HAS to be free - and then we criticize these people for trying to make a living. The entitlement is fuging annoying.

So yeah....while I may not be the biggest Person fan, I'll never fault the guy for doing his job. And I think losing BBR is a pretty big blow. But until we sack up as a fan base we'll continue to be one of the worst media markets.

Joe's questions aren't so much the issue, the issue is that he lacks tact and comes across as a complete moron. He'll ask a question right after the person he's asking has specifically said they're not addressing that and then he'll continue to ask the same damn question.

I'm honestly surprised the Panthers haven't told the C.O. to either find someone with a functioning brain to send to pressers or simply stop bothering.

So if RR comes out and says I'm not going to talk about Oher's concussion (I'm trying to remember the exact instance where Joe did that - I'm sure it was about Luke or Oher though) then he gets off free and Joe shouldn't ask that question? Why ask the question when you already know you're not getting an answer?

It doesn't help matters that he always asks in an accusatory manner.
