Gas On The Fire: Bill Voth Says - With Gun Pointed To Head - McCaffrey Likely Pick

I'm officially opposed to McCaffrey at 8. We need to play to Cam's strengths. Cam is (or at least I've always thought this, if someone has an article talking about this I'd be interested in reading it) at his worst when throwing passes to his backs. He either sails them or throws them into the dirt. Why would we take McCaffrey at 8 when Cam won't be able to utilize him properly? I have nothing against McCaffrey and I think he'll be a great NFL player; I just don't think he fits our system, our coaches, and our quarterback.

That's what everyone keeps saying, but Fozzy caught 25 of 33 targets last season. That's 76% of his targets. He's 5'10". Fozzy was by far our most efficient receiver last season.

What if this is playing to Cam's strengths?

We've tried playing into Cam's strengths as we understood them by drafting twin tower WRs. How's that working out? Funchess is one of the least efficient WRs in the NFL amd KB's catch percentage for his career is barely over 50%.

Maybe it's time to reevaluate.

Who deserves the blame for that Stewart stat? Is it more on him or on Cam?

Honestly, if I had to guess, probably the OL. I seem to remember a lot of bailout desperation throws made in Stew's general direction. For his career, Stew is a pretty efficient receiver. He caught 16 of 21 targets in 2015.

This is true.  I was just looking at our draft prospect visits and sorting them by the projected round of the player.  Apart from Thomas, we haven't had visits or workouts with any potential round 1 DE.  I was pretty shocked!
(I'll be posting more in a separate thread about draft prospect visits and what it might suggest about our draft board / strategy a bit later today.)

Yeah everyone has been saying DE is what we are drafting but if u look at Gettleman's history if they don't do a private workout or see the guy he is not going to draft him. Only time was Star and that's because we didn't think he would get to 14. We have looked at some that would be a 2nd or 3rd round. I'm going to say DE is not going to be the pick in the first rd. Looks like RB,TE,WR and maybe S if Adams falls but I don't see happening. Looks like we are finally going to put some weapons on the offense.
