NFL Executive: Myles Garrett May Not Be The First Overall Pick

Wouldn't cost as much to move up as eagles paid last year. When you trade up for a QB there's a QB tax. Still wouldn't want to do it if all it cost was next year's first. Not to mention the bad taste trading a future first to the 49ers to draft a DE has already left in my mouth.

I saw Clowney and Garrett, Clowney blows Garrett out of the water. When Clowney was motivated he was unblockable, his first step if the fastest I've ever seen for a DE that size.

Garrett at the very best turns out to be Mario Williams and that's his peak.  Garrett is lucky he's a great athlete if not he would be a 3rd round pick

Mario Williams is a 6'7" 295 lb man with 98 career sacks.

I fail to see your point here, since either player having the ceiling of Mario Williams would be damn fantastic.

But regarding Clowney, he is nothing more than the "Bo Jackson" of DE's at this point. Everyone has a tall tale of his greatness, but where the hell is the production? Even his "pro bowl" season was mediocre statistically.

If he isn't careful, he will end up more "Reggie Bush" than "Barry Sanders."

Oh, please. That guy was a complete no show his junior year. He might as well have just sat the season out and waited for his draft eligibility.

Watched James Hurst make him quit, which led to his college coach questioning his heart. But hey, he's fast as hell when he's unblocked.

Eagles traded up to 2 last year from 8 to get wentz last year. Most similar package we have to offer would be:

17:8th

17:62

17: 99

18: 1st

19: 2nd rounder

that's a tad richer (62 vs 77 overall) than last years deal between the browns and eagles but may be what it would cost.

That would leave us with pick 40 being our only good pick left and sacrificing a lot of the future. Sounds like too much to me when their will be other elite prospects available no matter what at 8 and a QB going earlier only increases our list to pick from.

Mocking the draft is tough but if we sit tight I think we will be very happy when we turn our card in at 8.

Is it possible to make a package offer including a tagged player? If KK could be included in a trade, I totaly would be OK with moving up since I believe he has the value of a first rounder...

At this point, Clowney is a bit of a disappointment. He finally emerged this past season as above average defender but he's been, at best, inconsistent since being drafted first overall.

Garrett didn't drop like 15 lbs just to have a good 40 yard time. He's a hell of an athlete. The guy was a man amongst boys in high school AND college.

Omg he's been fuging hurt he was drafted hurt. When not hurt he's been dominant

If so I can't imagine the trade partner valuing a guy they might only have for one season.

I hear you, and agree with the one year scenario value. Any ways they could some how get arround this - is it even possible to offer him a new contract? I mean SF currently have a cap space above 72 millions...

Obviously I'm lacking a gerat amount of knowledge regarding the franchise tagging and contract possibilities - still trying to learn...  :-)
