I really like that Ronnie Brown comp. I totally see that. He seems a bit more fluid than the Stephen Davis we got toward the end of his career but Davis was a work-horse; I don't think anyone would be upset if what you got was Stephen Davis instead of an unrealistic AP, Jim Brown and Earl Campbell rolled in to one.

For real. I think it's perfectly logical to give him realistic expectations rather than a generational prospect right off the bat.

Watched a couple of the analysis videos, this Waldman dude is a football hipster. "Oh that was ok. He did alright there. He's good,  not great. You young people might not recognize some of these names, but blah blah blah."  He went into a lot of depth, put in a lot of work, but from what I heard I can't value his opinion too highly. There were too many plays that he was trying too hard to downplay for the sake of trying to sound elitist for me to take him seriously. There wasn't a single player he mentioned that I haven't watched, at least back to Herschel walker, play live and lived through their career.  Fournette's game so far compares favorably to the "titans" that Waldman scoffed at comparisons of.  Sounds like a random keyboard critic.

I would disagree. I agree with Waldman, and there's a host of other analysts that do too. Fournette is being overrated, but that doesn't mean he's bad. It just means he isn't Adrian Peterson, Jim Brown, or any of the greats.

He's attempting to sound realistic, and I agree. Fournette does benefit from scheme, and he is a bit iffy when it comes to cuts and angles you'd see from super great runningbacks. Waldman has predicted QBs (i.e. Russell Wilson), running backs (i.e. Le'Veon Bell, Jordan Howard) lighting up the league, so I think he's pretty spot on with how he analyzes each player.

His videos don't say much to his process, but his RSP does. He shows his work and tells you how he comes to his conclusion. You can agree or disagree by watching the videos for yourself and comparing his thoughts to your own thoughts. I'd say he's pretty good at what he does.

I honestly don't know how anyone does not want this guy at 8.

McCaffrey is not a better prospect for this offense, or offensive coordinator, he just isn't.

People always overlook the identity/scheme of a team when picking players from the draft. It's very important a player fits a scheme to be successful, not all that time but most likely. Fournette fits us better than Cook or McCaffrey and Adams fits better than Hooker etc.

There is a reason you'll be hard pressed to find any mock with Fournette not going before the others. Unfortunately, he isn't going to be there for us and neither will Adams.

I wouldn't be mad picking McCaffrey I would just be highly skeptical this coaching staff could use him to his fullest whereas Fournette and this coaching staff would fit perfectly.

Regarding the Walker comparison. Walker looked like a pro playing against high schoolers. I don't see it to that extreme with Fournette. Walker was faster at basically the same size and looked more agile. The comparison is a good one but Walker and Jackson were better athlete versions of Fournette but against defenses 35 years ago.

Yep. I think Waldman agrees with you there. His consensus is Stephen Davis in his prime, but he mentioned other comps as far as extreme scales of possibilities.
