Panthers Visiting With RB Elijah McGuire

Looking at the running back prospects we've met with so far (I see "we" because I view myself as an essential part of the scouting team), it seems we are more looking at compliments to stewart rather than future replacements. Seems like we've focused more on lightning rather than thunder type running backs.

Sources Tell Us

"He has a foot injury that really did a number on him. I'm not saying he's a physical runner or an early-round pick but he didn't move the same this year after he got hurt. Better player last year for a reason." -- Scout with NFC East team

Bottom Line

Has decent size, speed and athleticism, but right now he's a better athlete than running back. His vision is okay, but he is simply too quick to give up on runs rather than competing at a high level. His production fell sharply this past season thanks to a foot injury, but his weaknesses transcend any injuries. He has developmental traits that could land him at the back end of a roster or on a practice squad.

Cooks would be perfect if he didn't have red flags

Problems solved on offense..........5 months later watching the game on TV and announcers are saying "Stewart is down again as always, and there goes the season for the Panthers Jim. There is always next season Jim. Yeah Jim looks serious, and I agree Jim. Alright Jim well what games are coming on later. Well Jim........." There will be 3 or 4 Jims all shaking their heads in disbelief......disbelief we didn't address an obvious hole. I do in all seriousness think they will address RB in the first 3 round. I hope so at least.

YES!!!  I'm a die hard Cajun fan and watched almost every snap he had.  He would be a possible replacement for fozzy, he has good speed and has one of the best cuts I've ever seen.  He legit can turn on a dime.  He was a qb coming out of high school so he kinda went under the radar, which is why he ended up with the cajuns and breaking a bunch of records.  He has good hands as well and is a very hard worker.  For what it's worth, we also have a good history with my alma mater with Jake Delhomme, Melvin White, and Charles Tillman.  If we wait until day 3, he could be a great pick up for us.

**added random tidbit, his nickname by Cajun fans is prophet.  The past few seasons, we've been awful on the oline and qb, he has been our entire offense.

If we don't go Fournette you are right and honestly I hope we are looking to add versatility and speed. Staying with the power gap running game is not evolving but doing more of the same. I want us to go to more spread looks but not to run Cam but to help him find more mismatches and use what he already does well like the no huddle.
