Another Christian McCaffrey thread?

Recommended Posts

Yeah LT makes sense there ,  McCaffrey would give us something different than Stewart, who can continue  his role as the powerback while McCafrey can be the shifty speed back we use on 3rd down and in many passing situations. We're nothing like the Patriots, but they showed us how having a shifty rb who can catch short throws can totally wreck defensive gameplans. Except McCafrey can also run between the tackles AND catch long passes , track the ball in the air with ease. Use him right he's an x factor on offense that we've been sorely missing for some time now

Outside of QB, if you're looking for offensive star/biggest offensive impact in this draft, he's arguably 3rd behind only Fournette and Howard.

Ross, Davis, etc. can be argued for, sure, but I think Shula could be awakened by an OW on offense.

We need a playmaker - check

A KR/PR - check

Slot - check

An extra guy to mold the culture - check

I like to see boxes checked off and he checks more off than enough.  Those were just ones I could instantly type.

I've seen comparisons to Brian Westbrook...that'd be awesome to have on our team. Can motion him all over the place. The eagles used Westbrook and Staley well together. We could do the same with this guy and Stew. I like him and Fournette. They would both help the offense, just in different ways

Yeah, he would.  Until we realize we have Mike fuging Shula.  Then, we all think.  Jesus, he wouldn't know what to do with him.  That's the main issue.  Why Draft an RB that's a swiss army knife, when you have a dull kitchen knife as your OC?  That completely defeats the purpose right there.

I do agree that Shula is a pretty big worry for all of us.  But the same could be said if we drafted Fournette.  While he's not bad from the shotgun (thanks @Saca312 for that video find), running sideways, which happens a lot for our RBs, is not his strength.

Now, Rivera has said the offense will be evolving.  This is a job decision year for the entire coaching staff.  If Shula fails to evolve the offense, then he's canned.  If the season sinks on that, then Rivera is gone too.  So it's fair to expect some significant changes in our offensive philosophy.

Does that mean McCaffrey is the pick?  Not entirely.  But if we have a plan to use him well and make use of his skills in offense and special teams, then this is a great pick.  McCaffrey is a TD scorer.  He can score from any part of the field, he's a match up problem.

Who really knows what will happen?  As a fan, I can either dread the season or get excited.  I'm going to ride the excitement for now.

There is zero proof to prove that Shula has evolved in any way to have a player like McCaffrey on this team.  NONE.

He can't even utilize Cam properly.  Fournette would be a better pick just off of that alone, we need an every down back, and Fournette is that.  Like I stated before, Drafting an RB that can do all these extra things, with an OC that can't find his way out of a shoe box defeats the purpose.

I don't disagree at all.  But this is a make or break year for many on the Panthers staff.  If any time is a good time to get your poo straight, now it is!

Yes I can see it now....3rd and 1 in the opponents territory to seal the game, loaded 8 man box, LBs stacked over the guards...we come out in a single wide 2 TE set and run The little guy straight up the middle....

Fournette (as much as i want him) keeps us as the powerfull ass one trick pony offense...  Big.. Powerful.. We have a generational QB, RB, WR..

add McCaffrey, its like our data base opens up from 50Gs to 250GS...

go up to Benji... Rush with Cam... dump it to McCaffrey...

McCaffrey isnt this.... McCaffrey isnt that..

McCaffrey is yards...  McCaffrey is touchdowns...  first downs... YAC... Catches... Patience...  Return YArds...  Return Touchdowns..  McCaffrey is blue collar... moldable.. coachable.. dependable...  hes a creator of a fug YES play... hes a beer dinker.. a shot taker.. a bet winner...  a security blanket for Cam..  a Canvas for creativity..

I want this man on my team

Then add that our wide receiver coach was his running back coach at Stanford and I think he knows how to use McCaffrey.
