WOW... Tyler Thigpen to Dolphins

The Chiefs are currently starting 34 year old Mike Vrabel at OLB, a position Peppers wants to play. They're also well under the cap, so don't act like this is an outlandish proposition. It just seems like this could've happened a while ago, but it didn't. I'm done with this thread now.

The Dolphins gave up a 2nd rounder for him to come and start. The Panthers gave up a lower round pick for him to be the veteran emergency back up behind Matt Moore. Big difference.

Whatever though, by all means, everybody keep on pimping Thigpen as a superstar in waiting that the Panthers should have traded Peppers for, while ignoring the fact that Peppers and the Chiefs would have had to agree with the trade and negotiate a new contract before that could happen.

I've never suggested this trade. I'm saying, Thigpen is young and talented. He has proved it. The Dolphins acquired him for an undisclosed draft pick, which usually means 4th or lower (usually lower), and he's a guy that has tons of potential and could be better than Jake if he isn't already.

We signed Jake @ around 28 I believe, and he played great for us up until about 2006 or 2007. If we're stuck with the same FO, who doesn't believe in drafting QBs high, and who I wouldn't trust to do so anyway, then why not trade for a guy who can start later this season if needed and for seasons to come? I mean, we traded for McCown!?!?! But, you have a problem that several people like Thigpen? lol I'm just saying.

And BTW, we didn't trade anything for A.J. Feeley. He was had for a Nachos Bell Grande and a Beef Chalupa.

But once again, Thigpen is not anymore of a proven commodity than Matt Moore, as far as I'm concerned. And the Panthers traded for McCown for the same reason the Dolphins just traded for Thigpen...they were both desperate for a veteran back up QB. And I still can't get past the fact that the Chiefs let Thigpen go so easily. Obviously, they didn't see all this potential in practice, or else why would they do it even if he was just gonna be the back up...especially since their starter has already been injured?

I guess we will see how good Thigpen really is sometime in the future.

Fine, Thigpen is a superstar, the Chiefs are crazy to part with such a prize, and the Dolphins will now go from 0-3 to win the Super Bowl because of this trade.

Matt Moore played 3 games in 2007, when teams had no game film on him, with one of the most simplified offenses imaginable, and was average at best. He was bad in the game against Dallas, a team which-surprise surprise-had seen him before. Since then Moore has been absolutely awful, in both preseason and when he got chances in the regular season. He was a guy who was mediocre in college, and bounced around to 2 different universities and a JUCO before going undrafted. The staff also is very reluctant to actually play him, which is very telling.

Thigpen started 11 games last year and while he wasnt a superstar was quite good.

People have very unrealistic expectations about Matt Moore, much like they did about Brett Basanez(who caused a similar uproar a few years go). Moore isnt the answer for the QB position now or ever. And I know I will hear the "but but he was playing with 2nd and 3rd stringers in preseason" and "the Cowboys loved him and wanted to hide him on the practice squad"...well, he was playing against 2nd and 3rd stringers and was still garbage and if the Cowboys loved him so much they would have protected him on the active roster.

At some point the Panthers are going to have to actually address the QB situation, not give a $20 mil guaranteed extension to a guy who is in his mid 30s and was average in his prime, not bring in undrafted scrubs who will never be more than 3rd stringers, retreads like McCown and Feely, and dinosaurs like Testeverde.

They need a QB who has youth, upside, and potential on their roster, something they havent had in a very long time. Youth is the only quality of those 3 that Matt Moore has. Youth is the only thing Basanez had. They need someone with a combination of all 3. They have ignored the position for far too long.

To those who are saying that Moore has shown just as much as Thigpen.....LMFAO!!!

Thigpen had 22 total TD's with 12 ints in 11 games last year......how many TD's/INT's has Moore has in his illustrious career? Hell, Thigpen put up much better numbers than Jake ever has. Tyler did all that in just 11 games last season. He would have had over 30 TD's had he been the starter all season. Moore is a scrub, get over it.

Dont take this as me saying that Thigpen is some All-Pro Superstar QB, because he isnt....but he damn sure has some talent and tons of potential.

....and remember, thats just IMHO.

this signing is awesome imo. this kid tore our defense apart......he makes stuff happen with his legs, has a good arm, and is very young and yes raw. getting him for a 5th....and yes its 5th or lower, i worked for 790 the ticket in miami before i move up here to charlotte, my buddy at the station got word its no more than a 5th.

i love the hate the dolphins get for doing a bad job at spotting qbs lol.

we drafted henne, he will be starting sunday. started all 4 years at michigan, has a strong arm and is very good. we signed pennington who led us to 11-5 and the afc east title. dont forget we also signed and cut mcown who a certain nfl team signed immediatley afterwards :)

i dont want to get into a pissing match with anyone here, i like the panthers. but i agree with the original poster.....you guys could have signed this kid, hes solid. he played for an absolute terrible team with a terrible coaching staff (herm edwards) and still lit up the sky......heres something i wanna share with everyone hating on thigpen...

music blows....but good stuff (funny most his highlights were against miami)

You don't account for 22 TDs in 14 games in this league by accident, especially not on a bad team filled with a ton of young and dumb players, not to mention a bad OL. The guy threw 18 TDs, ran 3 and caught 1.

this is not tom brady.....but he is def. a project and could end up being a stud!

oh and this is always re-assuring from a hall of fame tight end.....tony gonzalez

In a candid interview, Gonzalez left no doubt about what he thinks the Chiefs' brass needs to do at quarterback in the offseason: Make Thigpen the long-term answer.

"It would be a disgrace if they don't," Gonzalez said. "We've been playing well since he came in."

he also went on to say

"You already got your quarterback," Gonzalez said. "You get something else to help us."

"He's a good kid, he's humble. He listens. He's not like a lot of young players today who thinks they are the best. He wants to get to better and he will."

so iam def. excited about getting this kid, expecially if only for a 5th or lower!!!!

Given that Pep is dead weight at this point, don't you think we could've traded him to KC (a team with no pass rush whatsoever) for Thigpen and a first rounder (sure to be top 5)?

jesus... please tell me when they had the option to trade peppers.
