WOW... Tyler Thigpen to Dolphins

OK, so he had some decent numbers in a bunch of losing efforts during one season, while playing from behind most of the time. Hell, Delhomme lit up the stat sheet in 04 by throwing it around the yard and trying to come from behind too. That proves nothing.

Your comparisons make so sense and I don't know what point you are trying to make. Miami needed a QB and (in my opinion) got a young guy with some potential. Carolina needed a QB after week 1 and signed AJ Feely who is a proven washout. Again, I don't know what Jake doing in 04 has anything to do with anything. Maybe you're perfectly happy with Feely? If so, that's fine with me but I'd rather have Thigpen or even make a play for T Jackson from Minnesota. What's your point?

No, he hasn't. Everybody went crazy over Moore in 07 because we thought we were stuck with Mittens and Grandpa Vinny. Seeing a rookie step in and go 2-1 was great, but he really didn't have much to do with those wins. Thigpen had absolutely nothing around him and kept his team in a lot of games. If the Chiefs didn't think highly of him, my trade would make more sense.

Matt Moore didn't have much to do with those wins? Did you see how this team looked with David Carr under center? And BTW, Carr was another "proven" commodity that 90% of our fanbase wanted.

And another thing...the Dolphins just drafted two QB's and signed two FA QB's in the last last two years, but still felt the need to trade for yet another QB when their starter got hurt, so do you really think they're so great at spotting QB talent?

I don't remember wanting Carr. Everybody knew he holds onto the ball for too long, but a few people thought our O-line would let him. I wasn't one of those people. And the Dolphins having a lot of QBs does nothing to bolster your point. They picked up Pennington when nobody wanted to and he led them to the playoffs, Henne is really inexperienced and has never really gotten a shot, Pat White wasn't drafted to become a 50 snap a game guy, and now they're picking up Thigpen to step in for Pennington.

So, do you really believe that Thigpen will be starting for them next week?

Here's the truth...they picked up Thigpen because he can run, so it will be just like running the wildcat, execpt that Thigpen can actually throw a decent pass. Basically, they will be getting what they thought they were getting with Pat White. I'll bet you that Henne will be the starter for a while though.

I never said Thigpen would be starting next week. Obviously, he needs to learn the offense. As of yesterday, their options at QB were two guys with zero experience, one of whom they don't even want playing QB and they want Henne to develop more. Thigpen was a really smart pickup, as they now have two young, promising arms while Pennington's may never be the same

I still don't see how Thigpen is more promising than Matt Moore, or why the Panthers should have traded another draft pick away for him. Like I said, the guy is a good athlete who put up some decent passing numbers mainly because they were behind all the time and had no running game, just like Jake Delhomme did in 04 when Steve Smith and Stephen Davis were out of action. That proves very little to me.

You misunderstood the trade. I said we could've traded Pep for Thigpen and their first rounder. In my opinion, Thigpen has shown more promise than Moore, and not because of his stats (which happen to be better than Moore's). The fact that he was able to keep his team in games when, as you said, he had no running game behind him and teams could commit to covering his below-average receivers is impressive.

How could we have traded Peppers for anything, unless all the parties involved agreed to it first? This is not Madden.

Yeah. One time, there was this guy named A.J. Feeley that played for the Eagles and they gave up a 2nd rounder to get him... Hey... Wait a minute...

The Dolphins gave up a 2nd rounder for him to come and start. The Panthers gave up a lower round pick for him to be the veteran emergency back up behind Matt Moore. Big difference.

Whatever though, by all means, everybody keep on pimping Thigpen as a superstar in waiting that the Panthers should have traded Peppers for, while ignoring the fact that Peppers and the Chiefs would have had to agree with the trade and negotiate a new contract before that could happen.
