FOH, how does that make any sense for pick 8?

Safest pick of the draft. 2nd best overall runningback imo. Most versatile player in how he impacts an offense in any way, from returner, slot receiver, and solid runningback.

Yes, that could warrant pick 8.

McCoy weighed 207 at the combine. He is 215 now after being in the league 7 years. Tell me how that is a HUGE difference. Not to mention that McCaffrey's agility tests were the 2nd best since 2003 for ANY runningback. I'm not saying the kid is the messiah but many of you are underestimating him.

And Jamaal Charles has better long speed but the skill set from yards 1 to 10 are eerily the same. And it's not as is McCaffrey doesn't have big play ability. The dude SHATTERED the greatest runningback in history's (Barry Sanders) total yardage in a season by a single player.

And McCoy was 2 inches shorter. Made him much more capable of taking a pounding. And since you're hung up on combine, how about strength. Wanna talk about the difference in their BP.

Jamaal Charles biggest asset was his breakaway speed. nice to just dismiss that. Convenient.

   College Stats? LOL....Ok

Gotta say, the idea is intriguing. I wouldn't be a huge fan of it, but I wouldn't throw a fit. The reason I say it's intriguing is because we've talked of evolving the offense and drafting a player like McCaffrey would be a strong indicator that wasn't just empty talk. McCaffrey really isn't much of a fit at all for our current offense.

Yes. I do. And what makes you believe you are the end all be all when it comes to assessing a player's value?

No difference than you. You came into this thread demanding respect of some sort for McCaffrey. I happen to disagree. Is your opinion beyond reproach. You brought up names. I countered with nothing but facts.

Just to let you know; Stanford had McCaffery running a lot of power football. He can be an every down back.

So you think he can continue to hold up with 20+ touches per game in the NFL? I just don't see it.

And rightfully so.

1st round runningback, 1st round wide receiver, difference making returner, and a hell of a human being.... Yeah... Makes sense. The only shock is that it took so long for him to get this attention.

Interesting. This does actually make sense. But still feel that it would be a very major reach.

Bench press? Is that a joke? A runningback's ability to pass block comes from the waist down and seeing as he jumped the highest vertical (37.5 in.) his lower body strength is fine. The other half is technique and footwork.

I acknowledged the long speed of Charles. but reading is difficult. I know. The agility and athleticism from the hand off to the second level is often what defines a RB, and McCaffrey has shown great ability to create yardage.

College stats are important when evaluating level of competition and the ability to match up against future NFL quality defenders. I don't think this needs questioning.
