Amazon outbids Twitter for rights to NFL Thursday night games

The only reason this would make sense for them is if it comes with some decent rights for Amazon to use NFL players in their ads.

Because it's not exclusive rights to the games since they'll still be on TV, so there must be something else big they're getting out of the deal or it would be the strangest thing ever.

It makes perfect sense.    The amount of cord-cutters is growing every year, especially in the millennials group which is like the main target right now.    The #1 thing that makes people hesitant to cut out cable is live sports.   Amazon prime adding Thursday night games just adds to the value and may bring over people on the fence.    If they see it's helped them vastly, they can end up raising prime price for more value added.    An extra $5-10 a year isn't that bad if people can cut-cable because they can now watch Thursday games on Amazon.    But compound that to all of Prime subs, and it's huge.

The NFL would most likely push for a bye week type situation after Thursday night games before they get rid of them. I'm sure that will be a hot topic during negotiations. 

In other news, Amazon is slowly taking over the world. It's amazing how much they are involved in that most people don't realize, especially automation.
