I'm calling it, Panthers Trade up to #2 for Fournette

Carolina has been trying to reestablished the dual TE set for years now with no success.  Cam Newtons first year with olsen and shockey was one of his best as a passer.  Carolina wants bookend TE's that can catch over the heads of defenders and whom can block on both sides of the field.  I think Riveras comments stating that Shula is going to revamp the offense may be hinting at that.  Outside 1 of the 2 best DEs and SS in this draft, Howard would make the most impact in 2017 for carolina and will be there at #8.  Carolina has scouted quite a few DE's in the 2nd round as well as a stewart clone in perine that they can easily pick up with their late 2nd or 3rd.

Gettleman specifically said this year is deep in running backs  Don't see any reason he will trade up.  And why would he even need to trade up to second?  Fournette is likely to be there at 4th.

IMO, the only 1st round player worth trading up for is Garrett.  And Cleveland isn't giving up that pick.

LOL!

Dak Prescott was the Cowboys' second leading rusher last season with 282 yards. Yeah, their backup RB is amazing! So amazing that they spent the #4 overall pick on a RB.

I didn't say 2nd leading rusher I said 2nd rb, and yeah it doesn't matter who is running behind that line average joes getting at least 4 yards a carry

Comparing/discussing RBs implicitly/indirectly compares/discusses OLs as well.

But it wasn't something that I was discussing. the guy that originally brought up the O-line was trying to validate a bad point he made on running backs value by bringing up the O-line, which was only another bad point that he was trying to make. For example heck rest of the NFL doesn't have the Cowboys O-line.  I wonder how the rest of the NFL manages to run the ball?.../sarcasm.  see my point?

If we want to go that route though, our O-line may not be Dallas good, but it's not that bad either.

Our O-line struggled in 2016 due to injuries, not bad play from our starters, there is a big difference there, and this is the same O-line that ranked 2nd on PFF after the 2015 season. our O-line may actually be rather good this year if it stays healthy, because we have either retained or improved at every position over the 2015 unit.

The tweet from this article says the panthers are looking for a big time defender. The article says maybe Soloman Thomas. I think if we were to trade up, Thomas or Adams is the likely target.

This is all speculation, and thats what makes it fun, really though we could still land solid DE at 8, only real reason we would need to move up would be to jump the Jags at 6 for Fournette. Other then that I'd rather we just sit where we are unless Garrett gets past the Browns some how.

I pointed out second leading rusher because it wasn't the second RB. The 2nd RB had well under 300 yards. I don't disagree with you on hat OL, but Dallas took a RB #4 overall for a reason and it wasn't because their current RB at the time was so amazing.

Nope. If they're trading up, Thomas is the target. Here's why.

Jacksonville is taking Fournette. It's obvious and they're the first threat to take him. If panthers were interested in Fournette, they would have tried trading for the third pick, but they're going for the 2nd. Maybe because the player they want has a chance to be taken at 3? Bears are not interested in Fournette. They are interested in Thomas, so move to #2 is for Soloman Thomas im pretty sure. Plus Gettleman isnt stupid, last year cowboys spent a top 5 pick on elliot..bears took jordan howard in the 5th round. Howard was second IN THE LEAGUE when the season ended. No need what so ever to spend a high pick on running backs.
