Some notes from my source

John Ross was hurt his college career.  He will come into this brutal league and do what?

TD never got hurt in college and tore his ACL 3 times. KB never had injury issues but tore his ACL. Luke didn't have injury issues in college.

Sometimes even when you're safe injuries happen in football.

So if the doctors clear him we got to consider him. Can't be scared of injuries because they do happen no matter if you had a history of them in college or not.

Asked him about the Panthers again this week, he told me:
If we trade up we grab Fournette
If we stay we take McCaffrey/Howard
If we trade down it's for Ross

So there you go for that.

They are pretty sure someone is taking fournette out of the top 7?

Im not so sure the jags are gonna draft him.

Talked to him again the other day, threw some questions out there, and here are some more notes from him:
-He believes Bills will take Trubisky
-Hooker's health is becoming less of a concern and should vault him into top 5 discussion (Which kills the whole Pepper's going ahead of him thing)
-He is hearing that Watson is very much in play in the top 3 picks
-Four qbs in the first round is almost a certainty (Mahones, Kizer, Trubisky, Watson)
-Christian McCaffrey is a top 10 talent on his teams draft profiles
-Malik McDowell is being seriously underplayed as a prospect, and was told anyone who has him dropping to the second doesn't know what they are talking about

Completely agree with the McDowell comments... dude had to play everywhere. When he can refine a position, he may come out like Hunter.

The microfracture surgery scares me. Otherwise, I like Ross.

Agreed. You don't take health risks top 10. Anything less than 100% healthy is not a smart choice. Go with a sure thing before a gamble. It's one thing to do that in the 20s. Another to try it with the best pick you've had In years.

I understand Ross had 2 injuries in college but good god, he played pretty much his entire senior year.  There's a lot of extenuation going on with his critiques.

Yeah, but, he also tore his labrum in his shoulder (and may be convalescing right now). Projection of potential injuries of injury prone guys has to be a part of any responsible evaluation process. There is a risk-reward component in this business. Day one of the draft, in particular, has to be approached with sober minds.

Davis might slide. The bullishness on him seems to have subsided a bit. Of course he was originally projected as a second rounder anyway. Not competing at the Combine has obviously affected his hype. Perhaps Gettleman just doesn't see Davis as the force against a higher class of talent that he was in the MAC. Who knows?

I will say this, I think that it's less clear this year to tell who will emerge as the best receiver in this class. I'm not sleeping on Ross, Davis, Godwin, Jones, or even Williams (who I just don't see us drafting because we don't need him). There are a  couple of other guys that could make a little noise also.
