Day 3 is fine. I'm on board with that.

That said, I'd be willing to move up to the mid 20's for Cunningham, lol. I know the Huddle would implode but it would be a solid move, as long as we didn't give up too much.

Not so much their draft pick, he already told me not to leak that, but what his department sees other teams doing, sure. Like he said a couple days ago, scouts/gms are just as susceptible to smokescreens as us. We talked yesterday and we were talking about how this is easily the murkiest draft in a long time, smoke everywhere, and no real feel at what people are doing. Believe it or not, they pay attention to online mock drafts to get an idea of where people are going, and they talk with people inside the other team buildings, plus getting ideas from talking with fellow scouts at combine/pro days/etc. It's not like they all sit in absolute silence about their grades and ideas lol

I can't see DG trolling the message boards or online mock drafts....Lol

He looks like the type where he would ask,"Why you always on that computing machine?" But hey, he was prolly first one ever to Skype in a draft pick! Wonder if he is the Panther Social Media agent that trolls everyone?

Seriously, think he gives Kiper 1 "Bup" or 2?

A perfect player fit for the Panthers, and I dont know why he hasent been linked to us (maybe a good thing) is Jabrill Peppers.  He's the perfect trade back in candidate for Gettleman.  You want to talk about filling holes?  He checks off SS, Returner, RB, and gets after the QB.  All our holes filled, with one player.  Im not being sarcastic, and Gettleman isnt afraid of players with no defined position (Shaq).  If we can trade back in and grab Peppers or Ross this will be a special night for this franchise.  Oh yea we are getting Fournette at 8 also..

Its all in what picks you consider "gold" he's simply seeing all the Holes Christian would fill, hence the Lost in free agency Ted Ginn to the saints, a running back since we will be losing Stewart this is his last year as he is 30 years old going into his last year under contract

I believe we just extended J-Stew and he now has this year and next under contract. I don't think they would have extended him another year if they didn't plan on him playing for Carolina in 2018. With that said, it's important to remember, if we draft a RB high, it's likely they are going to be backing up J-stew for at least 2 years (much like shaq and butler). Double-trouble v.2 anyone?

I would love to have him. Trade back into late round 1 after drafting Howard/fournette yes please.

What if SF is trying to trade back because they've settled on Christian McCaffrey. The asking price might not be too big to trade up to 2 if that's the case. They will likely wait to see what Cleveland does first. But wouldn't shock me if they take McCaffrey at 2. Possessively John Lynch and Ed McCaffrey are friends.

If that's the case, I doubt they take him 2. They will either trade back to get him later, or take Thomas/Adams/Fournette.

Could see them trading down to 12 so Cleveland gets Trubisky at 2, then using some of those picks to get back to 5 (Tenn wants to trade down), and taking McCaffrey there. Wouldn't shock me.

In that case, someone falls to 8 and Panthers snatch em up.

    • Too late to edit above but the quote is from this Diane Russini article in the Athletic: https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/5941684/2024/11/23/russinis-what-im-hearing-the-day-the-jets-fell-apart-and-the-broncos-rallied-belichick-best-fits/ Okay.. there you have sorry I left that out the first post.  Also waivers keep the contract intact. That is the major difference in released and waived. It's all in that link from the other post.
    • Okay so I am reading something in The Athletic and it says that Jones had to pass through waivers. So I don't know. I looked this stuff up when we were number one there all offseason and I thought it said 4 years in the league got you vested, as they call it.  Vested gets you out of waivers as I understood it. I probably got something wrong, but when I think about the slack quality of journalism these days I wonder about that. So I went and looked, again. Well, well.  For everyone: "When a player has accrued at least four seasons in the NFL, they are considered a vested veteran. When these vested veterans get cut, they are released and their contract is terminated. When a vested veteran is released, they are an unrestricted free agent that can sign with any NFL team, and the team that released them doesn’t need to provide any additional compensation." It runs it all down here, where the quotes came from: https://www.profootballnetwork.com/waived-vs-released-nfl/ As far as Jones, the team turned down his 5th year option so I knew that meant he had 4 years in, because they re-signed him anyway, after turning down the much cheaper extra year.  The Athletic is owned by the New York Times so I shouldn't be surprised. That paper was an institution once upon a time but they let their standards go.
