Oh I misinterpreted what you were meaning. I, too, believe that if a RB is there he's the pick. What happens if no RB is there? Howard probably.

he might be a great pass rusher but the panthers need their DE to be able to tackle and stop the run. harris is a terrible tackler and terrible against the run.

i don't see the panthers trading down. they already have 8 picks. do they have room on the roster to fit more than 8 players?

What about the 1 yard losses that Stewart turns into 3 yard gains?  I'm not convinced Fournette is going to do that much better in those situations, look at what happened when he played Alabama. I think he had less than 40 yards rushing in each of those games.

I'm not disagreeing that he is an unbelievable prospect, probably the best RB prospect of the last 10 years, I'm just cautious about expecting some huge difference from the past years in the short term.  

I know people like to talk about Stewart's YPC but on most of his runs I really don't think to myself that another running back would have got more of it. If anything it us fairly impressive that he gets what he does.

i don't see the easy rushing yards with our team.  Not sure if that is the personnel (oline) or system (Shula).

Maybe with a really good oline the difference between the two would be greater.

But Stew is knocking on the door of 30. He's short term option no matter what. We're not drafting a guy at #8 just for this year.

In 2013 the Panthers won 12 games while Stew had a whopping 44 yards.  Many thought (with good reason) he was done, or at the very least, would never come close to matching the albatross contract.  To his credit he showed a lot more heart since then that many ever dreamed, but we've already pressed our luck.  2009 is a lifetime ago (the last time he had 1,000 yards).  There's a reason the other 31 are scared $hitless at the thought of Fournette to the Panthers-he's a VAST upgrade in a variety of ways.

Very true, and that is why you have to give strong consideration to Fournette at 8.

Im just cautious about expecting some huge increase to our rushing attack next year. Elliot went to a pretty good oline, maybe Kalil and a year older Williams will make a difference.

Unless we have to play Alabama, they don't seem scared :)

Here again I'm not saying he isn't worthy of our pick.  

I'm just not convinced he would have had much more success than Stewart did the past few years given identical situations.  Our issues are a little deeper than just who is running the ball.

Alabama did aquatint with Cam.  Cam+Fournette=poopy pants for the other 31.

Yep.  Emmitt, Bo, Herschel, Jamal Lewis, etc.=garbage
