If we use 2 1sts on a RB that is one dimensional I'm going to....

well, honestly, I don't know what I would do.

If you listen to g mans presser yesterday he makes a point of saying that Fornette can catch the ball too.  Chew on that.

My gut is really telling me that we might dangle Derek Anderson out there to either CLE, SF, or CHI as part of a trade.

My gut is telling me that you are completely nuts if you think we are letting DA go anywhere without a viable replacement under contract.

I mean, Jeremy and I have proven ourselves over the last four or so years, it's not like one draft would sink us lol

Yes, which is why y'alls information has made me depressed over this draft.

Because it looks to me like this organization is now insistent upon doubling down on The Shula Way... which brings an overwhelming feeling of darkness to my soul.

Have you figured out yet why a fan base that thinks Shula is a terrible stone-age OC is so insistent on overdrafting a running back specifically to fit his terrible scheme?

I don't understand how you can both criticize Shula's scheme and want to draft Fournette.

Of course these people also ignore that every single Fournette handoff literally takes the ball away from two of our top three offense players (#1, #28) so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

28 is 30 and averaged 3.8 ypc in 2016*

Logic? It has no place here! Tar and feather this man.

Absolutely puzzling.

Even more puzzling is the eagerness and excitement that they're exhibiting at the opportunity to devolve from Cro Magnon to Neanderthal.

Valid point.  It's clear that our offense struggles mightily when Stewart is injured.

I've made the argument before that we would have won SB50 if Stewart hadn't gotten hurt early - or if we had Derrick Henry on that team (he was still in college, but that was an argument I used last year for drafting Henry at pick #31).

I would have absolutely zero problems with drafting Fournette in the late first round.  I think Derrick Henry and Fournette are far more similar prospects than most members of this board.

But drafting Fournette at #8 - or, even trading up to get him - represents a huge opportunity cost.  A top 10 pick can't get 10 carries a game in 2017, it would be a waste.

And are you convinced that Fournette will be better than Jonathan Stewart next year?  Impossible to know, but I'd lean toward Stewart* (*when healthy).

I think Stewart's health issues are a reason that we should have used multiple mid round picks in recent years to draft quality backups.  Rather than wasting late round picks on marginal NFL prospects (Barner, Gaffney, CAP).

I firmly believe the majority of this board is going to get their wish and LF is going to be a Panther.  I've resigned myself to hoping Gettleman doesn't trade up to make that a reality.  He's going to drop to #8.

Hey, sorry, we are fresh out of feathers...

But we do have a big 'ole pile of Barnett support, sitting over there, that has been thrown out.

Like hell it has.  The only player in Southeastern Conference history to have double digit sacks in 3 straight years is still in the wheelhouse.  Barnett or Fournette at 8.

#89 was a 3rd rounder, Tyler Lockett was a 3rd rounder, Tyreek Hill was a 5th rounder, etc.  No one is saying we don't need playmakers, but at 8 it should be the freak show (Fournette) or best pass rusher in the draft (Barnett).

No doubt in my mind Fournette should and would get more total carries than 28 in 2017.

    • Respectfully, I completely disagree. Last year we were:  32nd in Sacks. 32nd in Turnovers.  32nd in Rushing TDs allowed  29th in Scoring.  We were absolutely atrocious on defense last year and that was with a full stable of weapons in Derek Brown, Frankie Luvu and Brian Burns that played all 17 games.  Using yards per game as a metric to guage our success lacks the context that because our offense was so inept teams were not driving the length of the field, they were starting at their 40-50 yard line.  This year, our Defense ranks:  31st in Sacks. Tied for 19th in Turnovers  31st in Rushing TDs allowed 32nd in Scoring  His defense fails to get pressure, fails to turn the ball over and fails to stop the run. Three things you absolutely have to do to be successful in the NFL.  Denver meanwhile has not missed a beat without him.  If another team wants to hire him as a HC and the Panthers get two 3rds for it I'll wish him the best and pack his bags myself.
