Being from a Chi town sports fam, I frequent this board and there's a guy who usually has sources saying they've met with Kizer 4 times

What an out of nowhere pick that would be.

I would cry tears of pure joy. That would be INCREDIBLE

If that's true, then McCaffrey ain't the pick, not even Fournette. If Adams or Thomas falls...

From what Jeremy has said it seems like Fournette might be number two on the Panthers board right behind Garrett. Though I personally prefer Adams and Thomas over Fournette

I would guess a smokescreen as well, I was pretty convinced they go Hooker or Adams.

Well what do you think John Fox values? Does he value a safety that much?

If I remember, the Bears got a solid safety from free agency. Might be the reason why.

If 2 or 3 QBs go, that gives us a likely shot at a solid prospect.

IF this talk of three QBs potentially in the top 10 is accurate - and I think that's a big "if" - it gives credibility to the reports that the Browns are torn between Garrett and Trubisky. I'm sure they see Garrett as the top talent in he draft, but they've desperately needed a QB for decades now. If you're not going to have a shot at one at #12 or a reasonable trade up (like to #8 for instance), then you have to seriously consider taking that QB at #1. Look at the Texans with JJ Watt. Probably the most dominant DE since Reggie White and they've got nothing to show for his career because they don't have a QB.

Very good points. It worked with us with Cam. Many scouts said he was good but shouldn't be number 1. Many pundits said we should have taken Miller or Dareus and get a veteran Qb. We went with Cam and he's made us great.

I posted earlier that one douche nozzle on ESPN swears that the browns are going Watson number 1. Who knows if it's true or not. I think teams are starting to realize they need a qb.

Just to play devil's advocate. The Broncos picked Miller, got a veteran qb and won a super bowl with 4 consecutive 12+ win seasons.

Perine is nowhere close to Fournette's league.

Not suggesting that. I'm suggesting Leonard might not be that effective here this season and might get damaged before we build the type of system he needs. I don't see him as a slam dunk with who we have and what we do. You can invest much less in a battering ram if that's what you want.

    • Too late to edit above but the quote is from this Diane Russini article in the Athletic: https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/5941684/2024/11/23/russinis-what-im-hearing-the-day-the-jets-fell-apart-and-the-broncos-rallied-belichick-best-fits/ Okay.. there you have sorry I left that out the first post.  Also waivers keep the contract intact. That is the major difference in released and waived. It's all in that link from the other post.
    • Okay so I am reading something in The Athletic and it says that Jones had to pass through waivers. So I don't know. I looked this stuff up when we were number one there all offseason and I thought it said 4 years in the league got you vested, as they call it.  Vested gets you out of waivers as I understood it. I probably got something wrong, but when I think about the slack quality of journalism these days I wonder about that. So I went and looked, again. Well, well.  For everyone: "When a player has accrued at least four seasons in the NFL, they are considered a vested veteran. When these vested veterans get cut, they are released and their contract is terminated. When a vested veteran is released, they are an unrestricted free agent that can sign with any NFL team, and the team that released them doesn’t need to provide any additional compensation." It runs it all down here, where the quotes came from: https://www.profootballnetwork.com/waived-vs-released-nfl/ As far as Jones, the team turned down his 5th year option so I knew that meant he had 4 years in, because they re-signed him anyway, after turning down the much cheaper extra year.  The Athletic is owned by the New York Times so I shouldn't be surprised. That paper was an institution once upon a time but they let their standards go.
