Whats wrong with expecting that cam newton will be back week 1 and play well after a minor surgery almost 7 months prior?

He won't throw with the team for 16 weeks from now. That's August basically. One month to prepare before the season isnt enough for great QBs with continuity with their WRs much less a new evolved system new tackles and new receivers. Smells like a disaster coming.

Seven months? Come on, dude.

Most of my research says that it takes about six months on average for a partially torn rotator cuff to heal after surgery. That would take Cam pretty much through September.

And you didn't even address the new aspects of our supposed evolution on offense, or the chemistry with basically a new receiving corps.

And on an off note, it's not like the Panthers haven't shot sunshine up our rumps before about Cam's medical status.

Hope fully this evolution on offense requires more pounding fournette up the gut with alittle stewart to follow.  And with you on the sketch ways of the carolina panthers at times.

Just looking at the injury, procedure and time frame he should be fine.

How was his first game as a rookie after the lockout?

He will be ready. I don't think he'll be 100%, but he will be ready to play. I agree with Chad Pennington, its gonna be mental more than anything. Reading yesterday, someone was saying that he won't be 100% until towards the end of the season but I think he will be ready to go by seasons start barring any setbacks through rehab.

I think the Newton situation is so much more complicated than shoulder surgery

i wonder even with a supposedly improved line and scheme and better players , how he will perform and  respond

As much as I don't like saying it out loud, I wonder if his interest in  pro football has waned

And  trust me, I hope it hasn't.

He also started week 17 in a game that meant nothing.  The fact that he'll be out there doesn't address the concern as to whether he's healthy enough to play and play well.

True.

But I think the concern should be more about his mental state then his physical.

He really got beat up towards the end of last year.

If the training staff needed more time to get him ready they would have started sooner. Remember even after the announcement they waited another week due to Cam's prior commitments.  We had the same angst with Kuechly and his shoulder last year.  Cam will be ready by training camp. I suspect the 16 week window is generous to make sure he is ready and in football condition to throw in training camp. I bet we ease him into preseason games as well.  No one is going to jeopardize his long term career to speed him back. And all the folks who said he played in meaningless games, that is not the mentality of Rivera or the players which is why they don't cave or give up to bitter end. Cam was playing hurt as other guys were as well. As long as it didn't appear further injury was likely Cam was going to play. There was no absolute that playing would have made it worse whereas with Kuechly there is clear evidence of increased injury being likely if he sustains another concussion within 6 months of each other. Given this was his second and it was a concussion which is the big hyped  issue in the NFL these days, he was held out. If the offense evolves to a Cam friendly system he should be fine. I have no problem with him not throwing 50 yard bombs until we know the OLine holds up. Because to me concussions not shoulder recovery is still my number 1 concern with Cam.

How was his shoulder surgery at the end of March that year?

Your argument in the post i quoted was that he will not have time to gel with teammates and some mythical new revamped offense we are going to run.  I say he has already shown that he can adjust on the fly.  Yalls debbie downer crap isnt taking away from my friday feels.  Cam will be fine.

I wonder the same thing after some of the stuff he said at the end of last season and during the season as well.
