Please no positionless players at #8. Right now, Peppers is an athlete first and a football player 2nd. He's going to have to learn a TON at the NFL level. Instant impact special teamer but the jury is out on him finding a full time role on a defense. He may never be anything more than a situational player.

this video just spent the last 15 explaining how he does have a position, why it looks like he doesnt have a postion at Michigan.

long story short he took one for the team and played a role that didnt do him any favors and this kid is an elite level talent.

I don't buy it. You're telling me that you have an elite NFL prospect at the college level and you get 119 tackles, 3 sacks, and 1 INT out of him in three seasons and he was a total part time situational player up until his 3rd season?

Michigan's coaching staff can't be that inept. I think it's more likely that they simply created a role for him to get him on the field because he didn't really fit anywhere. My fear with Peppers is that he's an athlete, not a football player.

I think he'll have a long NFL career even if it's just as a special teamer but I also think there's a pretty decent chance that he's never much more than a pure special teamer.

Watch the video. He lays it out pretty well that Michigan put him in a position to stop outside plays and funnel the action back inside for the interior players to clean up.

Yeah, that's exactly how you use an elite prospect... if you can't figure out anyway else to use him. He was a purely situational player for two years for a reason.

If we could get Peppers in the 3rd round (where Mathieu was drafted), I'd be thrilled with that.

Mathieu went in the third due to character concerns. Otherwise, he would have been a first round pick.
