TE George Kittle Had Himself A Fine Pro Day

TE George Kittle is one of those TEs not many are talking much about. He comes from the underperforming Iowa team that appears to look like they won't be worthwile for a long while, and just doesn't pop out very much in this loaded TE class.

However, his Pro Day turned some heads.

George Kettle may not be the guy you immediately see, but he's arguably the 2nd best blocking TE in this class. He can also catch, and has shown the ability to be a threat as a pass catcher. His real scary stuff comes with his amazing redzone performances. 

Iowa may have hindered his potential, but he definitely has it.

Among tight ends, his 38.5-inch vertical jump he posted Monday would’ve ranked No. 2 at the Combine and his Iowa-timed 4.07 seconds in the 20-yard shuttle would be the Combine’s third-fastest time since 2007.

And if scouts look even closer, they’ll see a guy with excellent hands, too. I still count his lunging, one-handed catch over the middle against Maryland 2015 as one of the most impressive receptions by a Hawkeye that I can remember.

“I can do whatever you want me to do on the field,” Kittle said. “Whether that’s catch the ball or take somebody to the ground, I’ll do whatever you need me to do.”

Sounds like a solid TE who can be something in the NFL with some work.

Would love him in the second, or even us trading up for him. Imo, he has the highest upside in this draft class. Made a thread on him a while back:

   You mean the guy who ran a 4.64 and had a 11% drop rate over two seasons. I like him, but let's be honest about him. Would still love him at # 40, but doubt he makes it.

Where is he projected at this point?  Sounds like a good one.

Mid rounds. I'd say he got some people looking at him in the 3rd round now.

Originally a 4-6 round guy, due to injury history and Iowa's incompetence concerns.

I wouldnt even say hes the second best blocking TE in this class.....................He's the First. Howard is a good blocker but not on this dudes level. Kittle Mauls kids. His father was a OL at Iowa and a team captain. Looks like he taught his kid from a young age to block in hopes to be the next good Iowa OL, just he never had the size.

Give me this kid in Shula's offense. We're calling for Dickson head becaise he cant block. Shula's #2 TE is more of a blocking H-back with a small role in the passing game. In a OL already we're already nervous about the more help blocking the better.

  Never said he wasn't. Which is why I said I'd love him at 40. But he isn't a 4.4 guy, and he has work to do on his hands.
