Fiz makes a thread about Julius Peppers

Julius is done and Elway and Manning had full, bright careers ahead of them when this kind of thing happened?

Just shoulda cut ties and let the dude go where he wanted. It would have been the same result for him, just another city. But he wouldn't be our problem.

Eli is a spoiled little prick....wait.

But Eli did work with his agent, the Chargers and the Giants to get a deal done. A deal which worked extremely well for both sides.

For the umpteenth time: Julius Peppers is batshit crazy.

Think about the most paranoid person you know. Now multiply that by at least ten. That's Julius Peppers.

One thing that really bothers me is all the people blaming Hurney for Peppers not wanting to play hard. This just in...Peppers is a professional football player. His job is to play hard every week, regardless of how he feels about the city he's in, or the management/coaching staff. Peppers is a fully grown man, not a child, and it's time for him to act like it. And Hurney just did exactly what most other GM's would have done in the same situation. He found a way to keep what he thought was one of his best players, and he did it within the rules that all parties understood.

If Peppers was smart he'd have signed a nice contract he was offered a year or so ago to be the highest played D player in the league. Then announced one off season after a good year I don't want to play here, trade me or I hold out. He could have had a voice where he went.

Or, if Peppers was sisgned today by the Panthers to a 3 year 33 million dollar guaranteed contract what do you think his trade value would be in draft picks?

I'm fairly convinced that if this situation had happened in New England that Peppers would have hit the free-agent market if a trade couldn't have been worked out. Everyone on ESPN would have been going ape poo over how awesome he is and how he's the big name to win his new team a Super Bowl.

Then he would have sputtered out and everyone would be blowing New England in the usual fashion. In the salary cap era, it's not only about finding ways to get good players and holding onto them... it's also knowing when to let go of the guys that have their best days behind them.

Not that it's remotely relevant, but who's saying he didn't?

Touché. Who knows?

I think you hit the nail on the head about him not being mentally stable though because what you explained was somewhere along the lines of what my friend said after he met Julius two years ago.
