Saints will host Joe Mixon, hold 32nd pick in the Draft. Most GMs think he's a second rounder now.

NFL Media's Daniel Jeremiah reports that "every GM/scout" he has spoken with regarding Oklahoma RB Joe Mixon sees him being drafted in the second round.

After months of uncertainty regarding Mixon's draft position -- there were reports over the winter that he could go undrafted due to his well-documented outburst of violence against a woman in the summer of 2014 -- Day 2 is looking more and more likely.

And perhaps early on Day 2, at that. Not everybody is interested, though. Among the teams that have reportedly already ruled themselves out of the running for the former Sooner, the Patriots and Dolphins.

As for the parties who do not appear to be checking out, the Saints, Chargers, Raiders and Broncos have all either previously met with Mixon or plan on doing so in the near future.

This will probably be their pick too. We know New Orleans doesn't believe in selecting defense in the first round.

I think he's the most talented back in the Draft.  I have zero interest in playing this dude twice a year.  F uck that will suck.

So are you doubting the strength of our LBs ?

This is where Shaq steps it up big time.

We've had trouble stopping the Saints offense forever.  And Joe Mixon would finally give them a back that can catch, and run.  It would not be fun to watch.

I don't think he's the most talented and honestly, this would be fine with me. They've misused Ingram for years and honestly, this wouldn't really make their team any better than with Ingram. Ingram averaged 4.6 and 5.1 ypc the past two years with over 1800 yards rushing. Taking Mixon potentially just swaps him with Ingram, doesn't really make them any better and who's to say he really is better than Ingram.

You're missing the point.  He can catch the ball out of the backfield.  And what does our defense struggle with?  RB's that can catch the ball out of the backfield.  He's that dynamic.  Dude would be a stud on the Saints.  You don't think he's the most talented?  LOLZ.  Your hate is blinding you.  Per usual here on the Huddle.

Not with the upgraded secondary , our LBs will be able to roam more free and DL will be able to control the inside runs.

No he is not the most talented back in the draft that my friend is Leonard Fournette whose catching ability is underrated

Joe Mixon is #2 or 3 back but I rather take McCaffrey for the Panthers scheme.

1. Fournette

2. McCaffrey

3. Mixon

LOL, Ingram's stats the past two years - 1812 yards rushing, 4.9ypc, 16 total TDs, 96 receptions for 724 yards.

2500+ total yards and 16 total TDs seems like a RB who can catch and run. Ingram has been really, really good the past two years and incredibly underrated. I am not sold that Mixon is any better. It's amazing how under the radar Ingram is due to his lack of usage early on in his career.

Ingram wasn't nearly as talented as Mixon.  Ingram came out of high school 24th best back in the Nation.  A four star.  Mixon came out as the best back in the Nation, and proved that at Oklahoma with the way they used him.  Plus, he's much quicker than Ingram.  Terrible, and I repeat terrible comparison.

really hope they pick him and really hope you become a saints fan.

Luke will show Mixon how to hit like a man twice a year.

I'm born and raised in North Carolina.  Why the fug would I root for the Saints?  I'm not some guy that enjoys penis, thinks Frozen is the best movie ever, and is from California and jumped on the Panthers bandwagon.

Ingram had 50 and 46 receptions the past two years. That was 13th in 2016 and 8th in 2015, even with a lot of receiving only RBs like Riddick, Woodhead, Duke Johnson, etc. ahead of him. He was top 5 easy in terms of RBs who were the primary rushing threats.

Has nothing to do with hate. Ingram has been a top receiving RB the past two year. Mixon wouldn't improve the Saints IMHO. Your love for Mixon is blinding you into underrating Ingram.

I already gave you the differences between Ingram and Mixon.  Mixon is the more talented back.

I'm honestly somewhat surprised by the coninued interest (they met with him at his proday as well). Seems like they've spent the last couple years cleaning out the locker room. Dealing with only high character guys. Not saying Mixon isn't,  and I'm sure that's what these meetings are about, he just comes with a lot of baggage, which is something they've tried to steer away from.

As far as him as a player, I think he fits well. Obviously, it's hard to know what these guys will do in the NFL, but strictly talent wise, I think he's a better prospect than Ingram, but like @stbugs has said, Ingram has been vastly underrated since his underutilized rookie year. Does it make the Saints better? Possibly.
