Draft Rumor about Panther Trade-Up

That's interesting trading Kk and maybe a 3rd pick for the 2 nd pick outright. The thought of landing the best RB and best TE with the 8th pick or trade back a little and get Ross and still have two 2 nd rounders I would be good with that trade, they will sign Star before kk

Just what the Panthers need, another big time defender. What's the point of the Panthers having a coach that specializes in defense if they need All-Pros at every other position to have a top defense?

I hope this isn't true.

Could you imagine if we used KK and more to trade up to #2 overall to pick Jonathan Allen?

Jesus. It'd just be more of the same. Always looking toward the future instead of capitalizing on the now. There's virtually zero chance that move would make us better THIS year. A rookie Allen isn't going to be better than the current KK Short. Not a chance.

This would be interesting.  I like KK but he needs to get paid soon and the prospect of our offense getting BOTH Fournette and Howard/Ross would be too good to pass up.  The 49ers would have to be willing, which I don't think they would be unfortunately.  We would also have to have a lot of faith in Butler for this coming year.

I doubt very, very seriously the 49ers would seriously entertain any trade offer from us that didn't involve #8 overall.

If a trade involving Short happened, it'd probably be Short + #8 + probably even more. The Niners would probably want next year's #1 too or at least one of our 2nds this year. The insane trades at the top of the draft in recent years have set an incredible precedent. You gotta mortgage your franchise to make a jump at the top of the draft board.

Shoot, I was thinking 1.8 + KK for 1.2 and swap 2s.

That would value him at 1.11.

I'm not coming off of our 2s

Non exclusive franchise tag values KK at 2 1sts. Unreasonable to value him in the 10-15 pick range?

Yes. Because with Short whoever trades for him is going to also going to have to come to the table with a mega deal to retain him.

The reason KK hasn't gotten a long-term deal is because he's very good but he wants to be paid elite.

The more I read up on Cam's surgery and the potential recovery time the more I believe drafting deep in the RB prospects seems more appealing.  I Like Leonard Fournette a lot and believe given the circumstances going into the 2017 reaching for him might be the best scenario.  If the panthers run the ball the majority of the time there is less stress to put on Cams arm.  Reports say that maybe by the end of this upcoming season Cam's arm might be back to normal but realistically I've read it takes around 2 years to get back to normal(article in www.derp ).  I know Cam is a freak athlete and it is possible his recovery time will be shorter than average but what if it isn't?

I am a big fan of O.J Howard as well, his offensive and defensive attributes would bring a lot to the panthers, kind of like a double edge sword but is it the best.  The pick doesn't necessarily have to be Fournette but I believe we have to dramatically improve our run game to help in Cam's recovery.

Whether it be sign

Adrian Peterson for a one year deal, draft O.J Howard or trade up and get Fournette I believe we should do something like that

We also have to address the FB situation as well

What do you all Think?

Two years to recover from a partial tear after the operation goes well on Thursday and they are starting rehab on Monday? No idea where you got that, but I disagree. Brees had a much worse shoulder surgery over 10 years ago and he missed no time at all and his stats after show no issues at all.

Its a worst case scenario that's all.  With all the older signings this off season IMO the panthers are looking to make a serious run for the playoffs this year.  Do we really want to push Cam too much with his arm and risk him injuring it to the point of no return? Drew Brees in renown for his arm strength and abilities as that is his claim to fame per say.  Cam also has a monster arm but its not his greatest attribute.
