what would be wrong with Ramczyk at #8? i dont know much about this OT class so im just asking for the education. lol please dont flame me

Nowhere close to a quality LT option. Which a player MUST be capable of for the cost of a top 10 pick. None of the OTs are. These are the types you try to pick up in 2nd, and could be quality RT options. Which would be solid value. You don't reach for a player when you are picking that high. Gettleman has shown he won't reach for a OT at the bottom of round 1. And wisely so. So he won't do it with his one shot at a top 10 pick.

would any of them be a quality RT starter though? seeing as we have two adequate LTs on our roster already, and a promising young kid in Daryl Williams for RT, giving one of the top OTs a chance to be depth and compete for maybe a rookie-year starting job seems like a great idea. idk.

yes, i am assuming Oher will be back. i dont believe for one second that he is doing hard workouts but is not clear of the protocol. i think him being kept there is a feign to hide our draft strategy

Possibly. Hard to predict. At #40, everything is in play. You just have to weigh what's left, other needs, your grade on the player, and what your opinion of Williams can be. Is this player going to be an upgrade over him. Oher is a wildcard too, but really shouldn't affect this decision. And what other need are you not addressing, which might be the biggest factor for me.

If they were to consider someone there, I would look seriously at Forrest Lamp. Only my opinion, but I think he can play anywhere on the line. And he hasn't shown that he can't play LT yet. Lot like Zack Martin. He has great tape against bama.

I think Panthers fans would lose their minds if we took Lattimore. But he would be a stud for sure and pairing him with JB24 would be nice.

Not really IMO...if it goes that way there is nothing to be upset about...can't do anything about the situation if all of the players we'd take are gone.

Getting the best Corner in the draft would work just fine for us and I've already said a few times on here that this draft is even better at corner than last draft and we drafted 3 last year...this would have definitely been the year to do that and getting even two more in this draft shouldn't be considered crazy considering how many are on par with or better than our current corners including Bradberry.

I appreciate you being a logical fan. I think I was referring mostly to the fans in the Facebook groups that I've recently made a point to stop reading. I'm afraid they don't have basic situational comprehension skills unfortunately.

If Gettleman takes any OT in this class at #8, it should be his last draft pick ever.

I'd say if he doesn't take one of the top three OTs in the first round, it might be Cam's last draft ever...

Picking a tackle is never sexy, but it is mighty important.

Really, the eighth pick is high enough to almost guarantee getting someone excellent if you're wise (and Gettleman is). The problem with the eighth pick is that mocking beyond the fourth pick gets dicey. And you and I have nowhere near the information that Gettleman and his crew have.

There isn't a problem taking a tackle usually. The problem would be taking any of THESE OTs that high. If there was someone close to that, we wouldn't  have risked so much on Kalil.

You make a very good point there.

Lattimore should be the pick if we stay at 8.  By far the most talented player left in that scenario (and we need more help in the secondary).

We'd start getting coverage sacks again immediately.  Could also play aggressive man coverage and get more creative in our blitz packages.
