Tony Pauline's mock draft (worst possible scenario for us)

Not worried about the Panthers taking Cook. No chance of that happening. In that scenario the pick would obviously be Marshon Lattimore. Cook is not even on the radar imo.

Lattimore would probably be BPA.

Taco or Barnett to fill a need at DE.

Davis, Williams, McCaffrey, or Ross for Offense.

Personally I would be trying to trade down.  

Actually this is probably the best scenario for us to be able to trade down with all of the QBs still on the board.

Mocks like this are the reason I find it humorous when some people act like it would be a reach to draft certain players such as Davis or Ross at 8.

Once you get past the top 4-6 players the next 10 or so players probably vary a good bit between teams.

Gross. There are literally seven players I would be SUPER excited about getting in the first round of this draft and all seven of them are listed ahead of us in this mock. Would be pretty sad if this happened. And yeah. In this case bring on Lattimore

I'm not clamoring for him honestly.  He improved his 40 time at his pro day.  Teams are going to value that size.

For the love of Pete, this has been a dream scenario for a damned year, Derek Barnett!!!!!!!!  Let the Bengals, Saints, Colts, Eagles, Ravens, Bucs, Lions, Giants, etc. say "damn!" and know that a year of sucking was worth getting the most productive DE in SEC History at our position of biggest need.

Barnett reminds me if Jared Allen.

Allen ran something like a 4.7 and did 13 or so bench reps.

Somebody said... the only thing Allen does is beat whomever the he'll is in front of him.

That's Barnett in a nutshell.

Barnett is 3rd on my list, behind Fournette and Adams. 4th, if you add in Garrett... but it's a damn solid pick here.

Marshon Lattimore had 37 solo tackles. He missed none of them. 0 missed tackles. He runs a 4.36 40 yard dash, and looks even faster on the field. He looks like a shutdown CB. We're not taking Cook if Lattimore is there. Hell not taking Cook period.

Agree with you on Barnette.  I think his sack numbers make people think he is better than he is.  I went back and looked at his games on Draftbreakdown, and nothing about him is special.

if we could trade down grab McCaff or Ross or Davis and we get Taco in 2 plus another pick.  Not horrible.

If we get Ross I will be worried on every hit.

I think in this scenario we take McCaffrey at 8. This draft has him going to the Colts at 15 as an all-around weapon at returner, receiver and running back. Seems if he is a top 15 pick he is a top 10 pick as well. While give Luck the weapons and not Cam.

I can see the value also, even at 8.

Many complain that he won't get the snaps given our other players on offense. I don't buy it. Between using him as a slot receiver, an occasional RB and his return abilities, you could make the case that he brings more value than anyone else once the top 7 are gone.
