Doesn't take sharp cuts or very elusive, so it's obviously not his forte, but he doesn't seem as bad as everyone is making him out to be.

He uses his power and size more-so than finesse.

I've changed my opinion back. I can assume he'll be fine from that area. No wonder the Panthers are looking at him.

 "doesn't seem as bad as everyone is making him out to be"

sure sounds like a guy i want to spend the #8 overall pick on

Actually, he eludes those more often than not. Nearly every dang highlight of him is having defenders miss in the backfield.

Key word: highlight. So you have reviewed them all to make the statement more often than not? Or is it off highlights?

Edit: prospective

"However, when Fournette is breaking tackles at all levels of the defense and out racing defenders, that is an alternate way to create yardage that is not there for most backs. He does not have Barry Sanders agility, fine, but Barry Sanders did not have Leonard Fournette power. So Fournette is limited in ways that other backs aren't, sure, but he also does things that most running backs cannot. Fournette might not be a flashy east-west back, but the truth is that games are won by going forward and not side to side."

guy isn't perfect for sure but if you play to his strength (which are many and elite), he's fine. Ask him to dance thru holes all day like sanders no. Ask him to be go straight down hill he's elite. He can move the pile. And if there is an alley, he can take it further than foreman or perine. There are damn good reasons he is worth 8, speed power toughness (he could have sat a lot more this year), quick acceleration. He has flaws, not super agile like McCaffrey or as patient a runner as Le'veon Bell. If he was he wound be beyond Garrett as a prospect and worthy if 1st overall.

If 2016 is the only Fourrette tape people go off, shame on them. That was by far his worst year: injuries, team turmoil, shitty qb. He isn't perfect or can miss. But the negativity the last 45 days is laughable.

Didn't zeke take a lot of runs out of shotgun at Ohio state?? I didn't pay much attention to him when he was there but you really wouldnt have noticed last year that he wasn't use to running off of normal run hand off plays.

  All of them. Urban Meyer runs ALL shotgun. How did Zeke manage to adjust against such incredible odds?

Fournette is a pretty darn good runningback, but there has been criticism lately concerning his ability from the shotgun. The Panthers offense has all too often used the shotgun as our primary offensive stance, and it shows with just 9.2% of Cam Newton's snaps being from center. Our offense has utilized the shotgun in our scheme, and any runningback we're planning to add must have some form of ability from such a position.

Leonard Fournette has been touted to be one of the worst from the position, but is he truly that bad?

Well, that's for you to decide.

A video compilation of every run by Fournette from the shotgun.

From this, draw your own conclusions, and discuss.

Yep we are getting this guy, look who the the QB is the defense was selling out to stop #7.

He is not gonna have that problem in Carolina.

@Jeremy Igo

@Hoenheim

@Cracka McNasty

You realize I'm talking about Stew when I talk about elusive from the backfield. Fournette is nowhere near perfect at that.

Fournette thrives in a downhill system, but this video shows he can still be decent from the shotgun. We're likely going to bank on the downhill system moreso than shotgun, but he's not terribly bad from the shotgun whatsoever.

Guess you're not pushing the narrative of him not working in that system anymore huh?

No. Saca is capable of something that 99% of people on here can't comprehend. There are many sides to every issue, and continued pursuit of knowledge on the subject can and will shape a final opinion. Which is why, for me at least, his opinion has as much respect as anyone on here. And I disagree with many things he has stated. Which is what we are here for. Discussion. Everyone else wants to draw a line in the sand and just say "I'm right no matter what the facts are".

I was more impressed than I thought I'd be. Im starting to like it if he was the pick. Don't think I'll ever love it though. I still have a couple ahead of him.

4:25-4:35 -- were maybe the best two runs in the clip. He showed elusiveness, power, and vision. I liked that.

The reason he gets tackled a lot in the Backfield, besides of course bad blocking, is because of lack of explosion/acceleration. This was shown with her vertical, that a lot of his fans ignored. No he won't be jumping on the field, but the vertical jump is an explosion test, LF didn't do well, at least not at 240. That being said he does have great speed, he just needs a lane and blocking to get up to it.

I think I've moved him up 1 or 2 spots in my rankings. Mostly though because I've soured on Adams.
