Nobody is going to say anything about 95% of the "good" runs being against bad teams that the OL can maul?

So, it's his fault that he gets met in the back field do often?

I think the reality is, when he get the blocking, he runs hard, and is a load to bring down. He makes plays. No RB is going to succeed when his oline is being mauled.

He's going to get met in the backfield in the NFL too. You have to be able to create some of those times. Kinda like Stew does from the shotgun.

Fournette is a pretty darn good runningback, but there has been criticism lately concerning his ability from the shotgun. The Panthers offense has all too often used the shotgun as our primary offensive stance, and it shows with just 9.2% of Cam Newton's snaps being from center. Our offense has utilized the shotgun in our scheme, and any runningback we're planning to add must have some form of ability from such a position.

Leonard Fournette has been touted to be one of the worst from the position, but is he truly that bad?

Well, that's for you to decide.

A video compilation of every run by Fournette from the shotgun.

From this, draw your own conclusions, and discuss.

Thanks for posting. Always looking for stuff like this

Just goes to show u how these so call draft experts hear one person dog Fournette for being bad in the Shotgun, so they decide to copy that person's opinion without researching themselves...can be said about anything really...but especially during draft season...never fails

I am a proponent of drafting him.  I like him a lot but most of the big runs from the shotgun were against lower level competition.

That said he definitely doesn't do as horrible as it made it sound.  Using the Read Option with Cam vice the QB currently for LSU will also open some things up.

If he is there at 8 I hope he is a Panther.

Here are my observations:

He tended to struggle more on lateral runs than between the tackles. Between the tackles, I thought he did well despite the fact the defense was obviously keying in on him. Laterally, he seemed hesitant or unsure of the correct reads, and got swarmed instead. I think that ability comes with experience, remember, he thrived with a fullback, who he trusted to make the correct reads. Therefore, he hit the hole as hard as possible.

I huddlers' shotgun worries with Fournette should be eased. I've watched a good amount of film on him, and the more I watch, the more I want him. Feet are so quick, 23mph at 230lbs. What a time.

Idk what video everyone here just watched but that in no way shape or form looked like a first round draft pick. Guy just doesn't have the lateral quickness and burst needed to run from shotgun.  Sure there weren't always the most obvious holes but if he can't dominate in college what makes you think he would in the nfl?  Folks here who think that was good need to watch similar tape of other prospects who succeed from the shotgun.
