On the day before the Destiny 2 Live Stream / Reveal....

https://www.bungie.net/en/News/Article/45795/7_Destiny-2-Revealed

So tomorrow in LA, a poo ton of journalists and youtube creators and twitch streamers are attending a huge event to reveal the actual game play of Destiny 2, AND to play it.  Those lucky douchebags!  I had 75 people watch one of my videos, where was my invite?!

Anywho, just thought I'd leave this here.  And go over a few tidbits of information that have run around since the trailers drop in March.

Firstly, it "looks" like (from the art) SMGs are a thing.  This should be quite interesting to see how they compare to the regular High Rate of Fire (Doc of Spam, Arminus, etc) auto-rifles.  It also looks like the foundries will be up and moving as well, making sure we have sweet guns to shot guys in the face.

Last week was Iron Banana meets Mayhem Clash, and it was f'ing awesome.  Just totally the definition of FUN.  This week, Mayhem Clash is the weekly crucible playlist.  Dust off your golden gun and trip mines....OMG, FUN!

I really wanted to jump in deep to AoT Raid's, but I've just been completely exhausted as the school year winds down.  Hopefully people will still want to do those (and nightfalls, need my Icebreaker) over the summer, once the D2 Beta drops.  I hope the Beta lasts a few weeks so I can have more time to play it.

Yeah, I still love me some Destiny.  =)

It's about time this is coming to PC.

I'll probably give it a shot there.

I'm curious to see how it work on PC. I think the biggest issue is going to be how well the game interfaces from console to PC with a mouse and keyboard.  There are already many people who play Destiny using device that translates M&K to "console" commands.  From them, it's not auto-aim city.  They have a lot of issues with the mouse acceleration setting because of how Destiny reads the angles on the joy sticks.

Also, how will the graphics scale.  That's going to be something to see.  Otherwise, Destiny does have a great community so welcome!

Most PC games have native controller support now (xbox or steam controller) so most will probably play like that else it's not too big of a deal.   It's easier to translate a console menu to PC than PC to console.

Yeah, I bet that is probably the preferred method.  Destiny does have A LOT of aim assistance built in, which causes many of the M&K folks issues, especially when sniping.  Though I imagine that can be toned down in the PC build.

Delayed on PC most likely?  Yeah, red flags already there.   Sadly.

I don't know about how all that will work out.  From the floor, people were really impressed at how well it ran.  So who knows.

I'll do more info dumping later and my total Destiny fanboy impressions.  I have been super busy with end of the year stuff at work so I can't really dive deep right now.

Shorts answer - Looking awesome!

Yeah sometimes game devs have a tendency to give PC side of things less care and people buy it and end up realizing this.   Hopefully not this time though.    But not giving it the same release date and all that is worrisome esp when it's built on PC FIRST then ported to console lol.

OK, so here's my main and important news dumps.  I highly recommend you check out some of the bigger Destiny youtubers for more detailed information!

1. Clans and social integration!  Now Clans are in the game and have more functionality as far as finding clan groups, working together for goals, and everyone gets rewards in a clan.  They open the door to guided games, a feature that allows for much easier LFG/Sherpa groups.  Like we have have 4 members ready for a raid, we can find two people who are looking to raid.  This should be interesting and hopefully awesome!

2. Changing in weapons and gear slots.  No more primary, secondary and heavy.  Now you have Kinetic, Energy and Power.  Kinetic and Energy can be the same weapon type (auto, pulse, hand cannon, side arm, scout rifle, and SMGs) but the Energy weapon has a burn and requires green ammo.  Power weapons are your one hit killers (Shotguns, Fusion, Sniper, Rockets, HMGs, and Grenade Launchers) and require purple ammo.  I kind of like this, as I am a primary user mostly.  It also will help to balance PVE encounters.  Some will hate, some will like.  The folks playing so far have been fine with it.  There is a whole new variety of guns, and those guns will have weapon slots for mods and new stats.  They sound great.

3.  Class and skill changes.  So there's a lot to it, but it looks like the general idea is mobile death machine.  Supers can roam, get more shots, and have a multitude of different "moves" within the super.  Like the Dawncaller Warlock has a flaming sword, can jump smash, throw flaming phoenixes of death, and other things.  All the supers look pretty cool.  No more Int/Disc/Str.  All skills are on a base cool down (for now).

4.  The world.  You have larger areas to roam.  Public events will be displayed on the map with timers.  There are random dungeons with loot and bosses (page taken from Diablo III).  You can run around to a variety of locations and do things.  You call the director from your ghost, and can start any event from there instead of having to go to orbit, director and launch.  The European Dead Zone is about twice as large as the largest Destiny Map, but looks to be stock full of meaningful places to go and explore.

5.  PVP - All game modes are now 4v4, no word on Rumble.  The new mode is the first offensive and defensive kind of game, where teams will set a bomb, and you either have to defend or defuse.  There are 6 rounds per game.  Looks fun and action packed.  Also, the time to kill has been increased for a slower paced game that is based more on headshots and team shooting people down.  I look forward to seeing how Trials, IB, Control and some of the other modes work out.

Over all, the game looks prettier, runs at 4k/30fps on PS4 Pro (Xbox Scorpio deftly dodged).  The story (look up the first mission, homecoming if you want, lots of intensity), looks to be an intense and emotional story not only of recovering your power and home, but also of dealing with the fallout of the worst catastrophy in the City's history.

Beta is coming out this summer, and I"m really looking forward to it!

So after having a weekend and a few days to think about D2, and to play some D1 as well (finally!), I have some revised thoughts.

First off:  I AM EVEN MORE EXCITED AND HYPED for this game!!!  Why?

1. New sub classes and changes to the old - makes each super and abilities more important and compliments the gun skill.

2 Better balance in PVE and PVP with new weapon types.  Now that everyone will have access to elemental guns, they can build that into or out of encounters.  They also help counter the roving supers in PVP.  They can really dictate the amount of power ammo in a given match, which makes those more of the "hero" guns to everyone.

3. 4v4 PVP - So this hit me this morning.  I did some PVP (working on my weekly bounties) yesterday and one game ended up 4v4/5, which was way more fun.  Playing supremacy at 4v4/5(most of game was 4, end a 5th popped in for the last two minutes) was much easier.  Fewer teams running rampant through a game.  With the way Bungie does MM (generally trying to match teams with teams), lowering the player count makes this easier and games are fairer.  In my lobby, we were all singles, and it was much easier to play and not get sniped out of no where.

In 6s (as much fun as they are with control), there's a LOT more of the teams and duos running a game.  I have been on the losing end of that several times.  When two guys stick together, they kill a lot more of us than we do lone wolfing it.  I've only had ONE game of control where we all worked together seamlessly.  That was such a cool game.  We kept all three zones on lock down the whole time, two per.  Best game of my life!  4s really ought to balance things out a lot more with teams and spacings.

4. Gun play seems to be the same or better in D2 (no real perks yet, but feels right according to the internets people).

5. The PVE focus!  It seems like there will be a lot more things to do in PVE instead of simply doing patrols and waiting for public events.  While I'm sure the number of things to do will be a little limited initially, over time I'm sure there will end up being a lot of cool stuff after the first couple of months.  I can't wait to do the adventures and lost sectors the first time, and I'm sure they'll get stale after the 9th time, but then again, how many fallen have I killed on patrol or doing weapon tests? (62,609 btw)

Now I'm slightly torn - do I wait for Xbox Scorpio for the Holidays, buy a PS4 Pro and new destiny?  Or since I lack a PC at home, build one and play that way...  Choice, choices...

yea the hype is real

so intersting the weapon switch- hand canons were originally intended to be a "secondary" weapon. It seems like this was bungie's original idea. Will definitely balance pvp because shotguns and snipers were becoming the only guns worth having
