New Kickoff Rule Proposed by Redskins.

"One of the two rules Washington proposed for the upcoming owners meetings --where a vote on the Raiders relocation is expected as well as a proposal to make significant changes to instant replay -- is a proposal to benefit accurate kickers with big legs.

Rules proposal No. 6 proposes the league “moves the line of scrimmage to the 20-yard line for any touchback where the free kick travels through the uprights.”

Currently the NFL places touchbacks on kickoffs at the 25-yard line after the league passed a rule change in 2016 . And there’s not, as far as we know, any actual data about what kickers are sending kickoffs through the uprights."

What do you guys think about this rule possibility? I kind of like it myself. It gives  teams with a kicker that has a strong leg an extra chance for better field position, especially if their coverage team isn't that great. It'll be interesting to see how this rule plays out if approved.

I hope they pass this.  It is actually a really cool idea.  In a game where every yard matters, not only does it reward you for putting your all into each and every kicmoff, it adds fan interest in what has become an extremely uninteresting play.  Instead of shrugging off a useless play, we will now be interested in whether or not they can get it through the uprights.

Furthermore, it will also increase interest for stat geeks.

Not to mention is gives teams an incentive to kick it away and not try the short kickoff, which plays  into the whole safety thing the NFL has been focused on.

With the help of the networks, they can place two rings on the sides of the goal posts. One is worth 25 points, the other, a C list actor is put to death. Of course that list will be have to be kept up to date. And from time to time, might have to reach up to the B actors. Yeah, I'm looking at you David Giuntoli.

I like the use of props like in that old MTV allstar game where there was like 2 additional baskets above the main hoop. Could be interesting.
